The Perfect Saturday Off-Duty Look, According to Diane Kruger

Thanks to Diane Kruger's latest travel ensemble, today's outfit is right here.

Thanks to Diane Kruger's latest travel ensemble, today's outfit is right here. Her winning mix of prints started with a navy-and-white Diane von Furstenberg "Paulette" studded blazer, then quickly moved into full-on striped boyfriend jeans territory. A black tank and Ray-Ban aviators kept things casual and cool, but it was her white add-ons — a fedora, Rochas bag, and clear cap-toe Christian Louboutin flats — that packed a punch. No matter where today takes you, look to Diane for an extra dose of what-to-wear inspiration. And to take this look from day to night, lose the fedora and sunglasses and add high heels, a colored lip, and gorgeous waves. Shop our editors' picks below to get the party started.

Clockwise from top left: Joseph polka-dot blazer ($608), AllSaints black tank ($58), Citizens of Humanity striped jeans ($228), Rochas white bag ($1,725), Manolo Blahnik cap-toe pumps ($775), Ray-Ban aviators ($125), Eugenia Kim fedora ($338)

Marco Zanini

Is Marco Zanini Heading to Schiaparelli?

Word has it Rochas creative Marco Zanini is the latest designer name to be linked with Schiaparelli, the long-dormant brand that is expected to be relaunched this year.

WWD reported on Tuesday that Zanini is rumored to head to the brand after four years in his position as creative director of Rochas, but it's not certain what his role would be at the house.

Zanini held a variety of positions at houses like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Halston before coming to Rochas in 2009. He's the latest in a string of designers whose names have been mentioned as possible frontrunners for Schiaparelli, including Nicolas Ghesquière and Erdem Moralioglu.

Tod's owner Diego Della Valle announced that he would revive Schiaparelli — which he owns in addition to Tod's, Roger Vivier, Fay, and Hogan — last May, just before the work of Elsa Schiaparelli was put on display in the Costume Institute's Impossible Conversations exhibit.

Marco Zanini clearly had volume and proportion on his mind when he designed Rochas's Fall 2013 collection. The offering, which came down a staircase and then down a runway in Paris on Wednesday, was filled with generous circle skirts, oversize outerwear, and jackets so big they had to be cinched in with wide belts to create a waist.

Kerry Washington Pulls Out Another Statement-Maker For Django Unchained

The season for red-carpet glamour may be officially kicking off with the onslaught of award shows later this week, but Kerry Washington proved she's already ahead of the game with another jaw-dropping appearance on the Django Unchained press tour.

The season for red-carpet glamour may be officially kicking off with the onslaught of award shows later this week, but Kerry Washington proved she's already ahead of the game with another jaw-dropping appearance on the Django Unchained press tour. For the cast's stopover in Paris, Kerry opted for a Rochas gown with enough drama for the City of Light. No, it's not Fashion Week (yet!), but if ever there's a time to break out a standout piece of couture, it's on a red carpet in Paris. The actress hasn't shied away from a bold look while making the rounds for her latest film (just see her Peter Pilotto number in Rome for the proof), but Miss Washington also knows just how to temper a wow-factor print with the right jewels. This time, she let her gown's sexy cut and all-over pattern speak for themselves, adding just a pair of oversize studs to complement her elegant updo. Now, it's time to weigh in: what do you think of Kerry's printed confection?

Rochas Spring 2013 | Runway

There was an optimistic sportiness in Marco Zanini's outing at Rochas on Wednesday that didn't simply come from the white wrestling boots he paired with the looks he sent down the runway. For all their fine fabrication (taffeta here, cloque there) and ladylike posturing, the garments in this collection looked as though they were made to move. Sure, there were bralette tops, easy shirtdresses, and a gauzy pleated skirt that left a slipstream of fabric trailing close behind the model wearing it on the runway. But there were also polo shirts (tucked into skirts or elongated into dresses in their own right), luxe three-quarter-length cardigans, and midriff-baring, well, everything that were as easy to slip on as they were to look at and admire.

For Rochas's Spring '13 collection, Marco Zanini showed a whimsical collection filled with retro nostalgia with a sporty twist, as evidenced in the white rubber-like wrestling shoes he paired with almost every look. Structured polo shirts were paired with shorts, baggy trousers were styled with cropped shirts, and large, oversize midlength full skirts were paired up with cropped blouses. It was all about contrast and proportion, which Zanini further exemplified with a selection of voluminous capes and shirtdresses. Meanwhile, languid slip dresses and sheer maxi dresses injected a soft, much needed feminine touch to the collection — we especially loved the simple metallic silver rendition.

  • Trends: Retro and sporty influences, floral prints, crop tops, slip dresses.
  • Colors: Hot fuchsia, silver, gray, white, black.
  • Key Piece: The hot fuchsia polo tunic top and matching shorts were adorable.
  • Accessories: Rubber-like wrestling shoes, head wraps, round sunglasses, structured leather satchels.
  • Who Should Wear It: Who likes feminine pieces with a little retro touch? Sarah Jessica Parker, Emma Stone, and Olivia Palermo.

Rochas Runway Fall 2012

For Rochas's Fall 2012 collection, Marco Zanini culled inspiration from the midcentury ceramics of Swedish artist Wilhelm Kåge, highlighting a range of colorful suits and separates. While the focus was on ladylike dressing, Zanini injected a quirky touch into every look, pairing printed tights with boucle coats, patterned pencil skirts, and the geek chic glasses to match. Highlights included the well-tailored suits and skirts; the latter featured a range of full and form-fitting shapes. For gowns, Zanini created decadent voluminous gowns made out of thick washed silks — we can totally picture celeb style setters like Tilda Swinton wearing one of those creations on the red carpet. More details from the collection below.

  • Trends: Printed suits, ladylike dressing.
  • Colors: Blue, mustard yellow, purple, camel, lavender.
  • Key Piece: The printed suit sets immediately caught our attention.
  • Accessories: Printed tights, tribal necklaces, oxfords, shawl scarves, satchel bags.
  • Who Would Wear It: Girls who crave polished quirk, like front-row attendee Olivia Palermo, and Tilda Swinton.

Rochas Fall 2012

>> Watery grid prints, shiny jacquards, and a dusky autumnal palette took center stage in Marco Zanini's Fall 2012 offering for Rochas. Silhouettes were buttoned-up, vaguely '60s, and tinged with a bit of librarian quirk — think twee ankle pants, double-breasted coats, printed tights, and Iris Apfel-esque glasses. Bouclé knits and a bit of fur added texture — and kept it all feeling luxe.
