This year London based designer Roksanda Ilincic showed a resort collection with a dark, dramatic edge. The Central Saint Martins graduate, who recently announced she would collaborate with British high street retailer Whistles, told WWD she wanted her resort collection to "be approachable in terms of fabric" but the results are anything but everyday. Ilincic is known for her cocktail dresses and this season they stand out more than ever--with 3-D draping and mesh details.

With Cruise '10 in full effect, let's stop and evaluate the latest. Frocks and skirts dominated, but what really caught my eye were clean, lean trousers — quite the opposite of crazy harem pants. Instead, trousers ranged from cropped and loose-fitting to tight and body-con. All polished, all pretty. Each style had its own appeal; I can see myself rockin' these silky Roksanda Ilincic trousers to a rooftop party and these Rebecca Taylor pants for a lazy bike ride. Balmain's $1,500 jeans have sold out in London, which is pretty much the story with the brand this season... Roksanda Ilincic is poised to launch a capsule collection with lingerie brand Damaris later this month.  Etro's Fall 2009 collection was made up of recycled fabrics from the house's archives.  Jourdan Dunn is London Fashion Week's top model, having walked in a total of 14 shows.

>> Some of Katie Grand's nearest and dearest — Giles Deacon, Agyness Deyn, Alexander McQueen — came out to the Royal Academy in London last night to celebrate the first-ever party for her new magazine Love.  Guests sipped tea and participated in a treasure hunt, but the night's big attention-getter was Beth Ditto — she's rumored to be Love's first cover star.  No confirmation yet — but a good space to watch might be the magazine's under-the-radar blog, which so far chronicles the move to a new office, visits to showrooms, and Giles holding scotch eggs over his eyes.*image: source
