Sky Ferreira

Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2013

Hedi Slimane's confident pre-Fall 2013 lookbook for Saint Laurent is filled with largely black-and-white images of Sky Ferreira.

Hedi Slimane's confident pre-Fall 2013 lookbook for Saint Laurent is filled with largely black-and-white images of Sky Ferreira. What better casting choice for a designer so invested in rock and roll?

As he's done with his ad campaigns, Slimane shot Ferreira's largely black-and-white images himself. The offering echoes the glamorous portrayal of '70s classics from Slimane's Spring 2013 collection, but with a refined edge. A sheer polka-dot tunic with bishop's sleeves is paired with a masculine wool overcoat in one image. In another, rounded metal studs and wide armholes give a leather shift presence. Ferreira looks like a rock star in all of the ensembles, but she's most striking in a black leather motorcycle jacket and sky-high booties.

Look to Steal: Saint Laurent's Western-Meets-Rocker Girl

Saint Laurent's collection took the rocker vibe to totally fresh heights for Spring '13.

Saint Laurent's collection took the rocker vibe to totally fresh heights for Spring '13. By incorporating wide-brim hats, the designer gave his glam-rock girl a hint of Western cool. This is one of our favorite looks from the collection — we dare you to dazzle in it at your next evening affair. Start with a plunging sequin top and black leather jeans, then throw on a classic black blazer to tidy things up. For accessories, choose black T-strap platform pumps, a black tassel necklace, and a handful of mixed-metal bangles. Then, to really make your look come alive à la Saint Laurent, don't forget a black wide-brim hat.

Left to right: Kimchi & Blue Beaded Tank ($49), Vince Camuto Tassel Necklace ($68), Generation Love Faux Leather Pants ($140), Superduper Felt Hat ($422), Helmut Lang Black Blazer ($409, originally $585), Pelle Moda T-Strap Pumps ($81, originally $175), Noir for L.A.M.B. Geometric Bangles ($70, originally $99).

Golden Globe Awards: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley chose a black Saint Laurent gown from the Spring 2013 collection for tonight's festivities.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley chose a black Saint Laurent gown from the Spring 2013 collection for tonight's festivities. But don't be fooled, this black gown was anything but basic. The wide leather belt and tie-bow detail, not to mention that sexy side slit, totally made us take notice. Black ankle-strap peep-toes, simple drop earrings, and three rings by Dana Rebecca Designs completed the model's red-carpet style. Thoughts?

Anne Hathaway Kicks Off Award Season in an All-Black Suit

At the National Board of Review Gala in NYC last night, Anne Hathaway stunned in an all-black Saint Laurent suit, ankle-strap Givenchy sandals, and a patent-leather Jill Milan clutch.

At the National Board of Review Gala in NYC last night, Anne Hathaway stunned in an all-black Saint Laurent suit, ankle-strap Givenchy sandals, and a patent-leather Jill Milan clutch. Head-to-toe black is always stylish, but we particularly love the tie-bow blouse and dainty lace detail of Anne's red-carpet look. This is the first of a number of award-season events, and if this menswear-inspired outfit is any indication of what's to come from Anne, then we can't wait to see what's next. Take a cue from the actress with a black suit and tie-bow blouse, and then finish the look off with a pair of minimalist sandals, a patent clutch, and sparkling crystal studs.

Odelay! Beck Now Moonlighting as Model For Saint Laurent

Well, we guess Beck's doing fine.
Beck Saint Laurent Spring 2013 Campaign

Well, we guess Beck's doing fine. In addition to releasing his latest project Song Reader — a collection of sheet music — last month, the award-winning 42-year-old musician was also featured in the Spring 2013 campaign for Saint Laurent. Beck sat for the photos, shot and styled by the house's creative director Hedi Slimane, in Los Angeles last October.

Beck is the second musician Slimane has shot for Saint Laurent's campaign since he featured singer Christopher Owens in his very first ads for the house. And like the rest of the images, Saskia de Brauw's menswear ads included, these are black and white and mostly feature the brand's suiting — although there's a pretty fantastic hat involved in three of the photos.

Who's That Girl? Saskia de Brauw Stars in Saint Laurent Men's Campaign

Rather than casting a male model for his first Saint Laurent menswear campaign, Hedi Slimane hired Saskia de Brauw, the 31-year-old Chanel favorite, who appeared in last year's Pirelli Calendar.
Saskia de Brauw in Saint Laurent Spring 2013 Men's Campaign

Rather than casting a male model for his first Saint Laurent menswear campaign, Hedi Slimane hired Saskia de Brauw, the 31-year-old Chanel favorite, who appeared in last year's Pirelli Calendar.

Slimane styled and photographed de Brauw for the campaign last month in Los Angeles. When the brand revealed the first images from the campaign online late last week, it noted that there wasn't a makeup artist or hairstylist on set, allowing de Brauw's natural androgyny to shine through in the pictures. That makes sense for this campaign: When Slimane designed Dior Homme, his skinny suits for men were so popular that women snapped them up as well, and now all the pieces in this campaign will be available for both genders in January 2013.

The ads are also the public's first look at Slimane's menswear for Saint Laurent. In May, the house announced that only buyers would see Slimane's first women's resort and men's Spring collection so that he could make his formal debut at his Spring 2013 women's show in Paris.
