Are Sessilee Lopez and Chanel Iman Having a Tiff?

>> Yesterday, Sessilee Lopez, who frequently Twittered, announced on the site, "sorry twitter but this is my very last tweet ... we had some good times and bad but now our relationship is over ... "; she's now deleted her account entirely.

>> Yesterday, Sessilee Lopez, who frequently Twittered, announced on the site, "sorry twitter but this is my very last tweet ... we had some good times and bad but now our relationship is over ... "; she's now deleted her account entirely.  Many were left wondering why, but some now think that it may have to do with Chanel Iman.

Two days ago, Grazia reported from London Fashion Week, "Sessilee Lopez throwing a tantrum at Jeremy Scott and Nathan Jenden. 'No pictures please' but lots of tears and chair throwing! Not pretty."  Later, they changed it out to read, "A certain model throwing . . ."  Chanel Iman was backstage at Nathan Jenden, but was not at Jeremy Scott.

Jourdan Dunn Talks Pregnancy, the "Unnecessary Competition" Among Black Models, and Joins Sessilee, Chanel, and Arlenis in i-D

>> Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Chanel Iman, and Arlenis Sosa Pena reunited a year after the all-black issue of Vogue Italia to shoot the September 2009 cover of i-D under a railroad arch and next to a go-kart track in East London.

>> Jourdan Dunn, Sessilee Lopez, Chanel Iman, and Arlenis Sosa Pena reunited a year after the all-black issue of Vogue Italia to shoot the September 2009 cover of i-D under a railroad arch and next to a go-kart track in East London.

Jourdan is pregnant (she's due in December — with a boy, according to Sessilee) and chats with i-D about how she may be out for a season, but doesn't plan on leaving the scene.  As for the father of her child, who she's generally very private about: "My boyfriend didn't even know I was a model when I started going out with him and we've been together for three years now. It's hard, you never really know whether people want to be around Jourdan or Jourdan Dunn, and he's been there from when I was just Jourdan."

Edward Enninful, who styled the shoot — which can be seen here — calls Jourdan "reserved" in the video below, but she's very outspoken when it comes to her work: "There are loads of black models working and the idea that there's only a few of us, or four of us, to let in as top models at any one time is just bullsh*t. It creates an unnecessary competition when we should be standing together."

Chanel chimes in: "It usually takes an ethnic girl — I'm not saying black, I'm saying ethnic, let's make that clear — twice as long. We've gotta work extra-hard to stay in the game and stay with the girls who do well but aren't ethnic.  Some girls can skip seasons, but us ethnic girls, we cannot skip a season because that'll kill us."

>> The sudden surge of pregnant models keeps growing: 18-year-old Jourdan Dunn confirmed to Vogue UK that she is five and a half months pregnant by her boyfriend of several years and due in December.  "I'm really looking forward to the future and having my baby. I'm lucky — I'm feeling really well. I'm healthy and happy!"

Sessilee Lopez commented on The Fashion Spot, implying that Jourdan, like Karolina Kurkova, is expecting a boy: "Everyone is so excited and can't wait to welcome him into the world!!!!"

Jourdan walked the Strenesse Blue runway during Berlin Fashion Week a couple of weeks ago (left), but it seems unlikely that she would walk during the upcoming Spring 2010 season this Fall; It's rumored that she's taken the next seven months off, but her agency told Vogue UK Jourdan plans to continue working between New York and London after the birth.

Vogue Paris, Three Stylists Turn Out 65 Pages Worth of Models in Iconic Brand Looks

>> Some thought that Vogue Paris's August 2009 cover with Daria Werbowy all decked out in Burberry check looked too blatantly like an advertisement, but in the context of Inez van Lamweerde and Vinoodh Matadin's 65-page accompanying editorial inside — with a plethora of models, each embodying a different brand's identity — it all makes sense.

It's a few of the magazine's usual suspects — Anja Rubik doing Gucci's "glam star" in fauxhawk, Kamila Filipcikova striking an eyepopping McQueen silhouette — plus a few new faces like Regina Feoktistova and Ranya Mordanova in Gianfranco Ferre and Junya Watanabe, respectively.  The trifecta of stylists that produced these images — Joe McKenna, Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld — prove that there is creativity to be found within the bounds of a studio shoot, after all.

Girls on Film: American Dreamin', W, December '08

In honor of the Fourth of July, I bring you a special edition of Girls on Film: W's American Dreamin' editorial in the Dec. '08 issue. It features the hottest crop of models — Eniko Mihalik, Lara Stone, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Sessilee Lopez, and Aline Weber — taking on confident all-American characters. From potato chips to American flags, cowboy hats to plaid shirts, it's pure Americana, and there is no better time for it than now. I am especially intrigued by the juxtaposition between the quirky props and glamorous gowns. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin capture the madness in LA. American dreamin'!

Fashion Mourns Michael Jackson

>> Just today, Swarovski announced that they were going to clothe Michael Jackson head to toe for his "This Is It" tour kicking off next month — his costumes and sets were to feature over 300,000 crystals, in 53 different shapes, 43 different sizes, and 27 different colors.  In April, The Imagist reported that Balmain stylist Emmanuelle Alt "would weep" if Jackson allowed Balmain to do his tour costumes because she was "100% obsessed" with him — a fact reflected in Balmain's flashy runway pieces.Jackson had catapulted himself back into fashion's eye in recent months after he was spotted in a number of different Balmain looks — no doubt courtesy of Emmanuelle Alt — and a favorite gold studded Givenchy jacket.  At the news of his death this afternoon, an outpouring of reactions — some incredulous — came from models, editors, and designers alike — those from a few, below.

Carine Roitfeld

>> INSIDER WIRE —Carine Roitfeld dedicated the entire February 2009 issue of Vogue Paris to Lara Stone, and now it sounds like an upcoming issue of Vogue Paris will be dedicated to Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin — they are photographing the entire thing, cover to cover.  Recent rumors have placed the duo shooting Jacquetta Wheeler with Shalom Harlow and Sessilee Lopez with "the fastest rising new Asian star on the scene" and a recent VP cover girl for the magazine — perhaps it's all for this issue?

Costa has not yet had an opportunity to dress the First Lady, but getting there is on his agenda. "Of course I will try to talk to her! Why do you think I'm here? I bought a tuxedo for her!"

Sessilee Lopez, too, was excited to have dinner with Obama. "She is truly amazing in person. An aura just radiates from her. I'm so proud that she's our First Lady," she wrote.  Coco Rocha and Hilary Rhoda also attended, in support of the evening's honorary chair, Carolina Herrera.
