Where would we shoe hounds be without Nine West's affordable, super chic shoes to satisfy our cravings? We — and our bank accounts! — would shudder. Nine West has unveiled its Fall 2011 collection, and we're loving the trends: minimal booties, strappy platforms, and rich, autumnal colors like forest green, garnet, and caramel leather. The only problem is, we want to wear these shoes right now!
We owe Fab reader Megan Zietz a big thanks for reminding us of the basic rule to avoid outfit boredom: accessorize with bold color and prints. By adding purple shoes and a striped scarf to her classic jeans and blazer, Megan makes her totally chic outfit distinctive. We love purple and stripes, so here are a few easy accessories you can add right now, all under $100. Click items to buy.
>> If the cold season has left you a little frigid, our 24 shoe picks are sure to leave you feeling warm and tingly inside. The latest crop for the New Year comes from the likes of Burberry, Ash, Kate Spade, and Camilla Skovgaard are sure to please your footwear fetish, whether you're enjoying a sunny beach vacay, enduring the snow, or just somewhere in between.
Following celeb trainer Harley Pasternak's lead, we think sneakers are the new stilettos — at least our toes are hoping this trend is true. We tested all kinds of shoes this year, and here are some reviews of cross-trainers, running shoes, and some of those dubious toning shoes.
>> Pre-Fall 2011 collections have been rolling out, with focus squarely on the clothes. And justifiably so — designers like them because they sell extra-well, and we're game because we always like something new to look at. But lest we forget our favorite finishing touches, may we present the best Pre-Fall 2011 accessory offerings thus far, including Oscar de la Renta's feathered confections, left, and Jason Wu's Elsa Schiaparelli-inspired cigarette heels. Peruse the slideshow for more from the likes of Burberry, Michael Kors, and Rag & Bone.
Since blood flows to the body's core when it's cold outside, it's important to keep your feet, head, and hands warm whenever you're outside in the gold. To keep feet warm during Winter workouts, nothing beats a thick pair of wool socks. (Wool also has great wicking properties.) The problem is, whenever I wear them, my feet end up feeling squished inside my cross-trainers.
Buying shoes a half size bigger is an easy solution to my problem; the slight increase in size affords me just enough room to wear my wool socks, which keeps me toasty during Winter workouts, but still fit well enough to not throw off my balance. It may seem like a waste of money, but I look at these shoes as part of my Winter gear essentials, and my smaller pair gets an extended shelf life.

Grey Ant has paired up with outdoor footwear brand Teva to create what they're calling the most comfortable performance high heel on the planet. Basically, it's Teva's Hurricane sport "mandal" redone on a four-inch stacked stiletto. There are two styles, $330 each: the "Worlds Unite" in black and white with Velcro closure, and the "Natural" in tan with a buckle. It's an interesting collaboration, no doubt, but will it work in real life? Either way, it's fun to see the fashion-meets-the-outdoors shoot.
In Fab-land, it's always prime time to rock glitter, but especially during the holidays. Tory Burch just came out with these glitter-covered booties ($395) that would dazzle anyone's feet. If you're willing to go whimsical, try these Kate Spade slingback bow pumps ($325). Or, if you're a comfort-cum-style kind of gal, opt for the glitter oxfords ($48). No matter your sparkle style, be sure to keep the rest of your ensemble simple — you want your toes to shine!
>> We love dressing up for the holidays and while the perfect dress plays a starring role, finding the perfect pair of shoes is just as essential. We hand-picked a number of holiday shoes — ranging from a majestic pair of velvet stunners from Ralph Lauren to a crackling metallic set from Cynthia Vincent — for you to shimmy and shake your way through every festive celebration.
I've always had a thing for the classic appeal of a tassel-adorned shoe. Now, I'm crushing hard on the sophisticated, menswear vibe you can get with proper tassels. First, it was the love of these Tory Burch ankle booties ($395), but the more I see the tassel look on everything from oxfords to a wedge loafer, the more style-smitten I've become. Wear them with rolled, military-hued chinos, or a mini and tights – polished, playful, and totally seasonal.
