It looks like black chokers and black patent flats are Lagerfeld's preferred accessories for the collection.

Alber Elbaz Pulls Out the Stops at Lanvin for H&M Fashion Show

>> Alber Elbaz and the Lanvin team descended on New York's Pierre Hotel Thursday evening, transforming it with palm fronds, caged parakeets, models in French maid outfits, and little old men offering up champagne, scotch, crustless tea sandwiches, and macaroons, to show off their H&M collaboration.

At the runway's entrance, a rose-filled arch set with "Lanvin Hearts H&M" in fluorescent lights; to the side of that, a salsa band played live music. And above the runway, there were 20 crystal chandeliers. The venue was packed, to say the least —  Sofia Coppola, Patrick Demarchelier, Shala Monroque, Sally Singer, and Grace Coddington were all there, plus more than a handful of other designers sitting front row: Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Tory Burch, Alexander Wang, Anna Sui.

Katie Grand styled the show — and the models were told to engage with the audience — so Siri Tollerod, as veiled bride, tossed her bouquet; Pixie Geldof strutted down in her gender-bending suit; Anna Dello Russo, walked with a gray standard poodle at her side; and Julia Frakes made her runway debut. The clothes were couture riffs on the Lanvin for H&M collection — on sale to benefit Unicef now — but afterward, there was a frenzy for the Lanvin for H&M collection pop-up shop set up downstairs. Many editors walked away with multiple bags, Coppola bought the tulle jacket, and even Wang did a little shopping of his own.

A video of the show can be seen here.

Siri Tollerod Embodies Astrological Signs for Vogue UK December 2010; Alexandra Shulman Wants to Remain Editor Through 2016

>> Leave it to British Vogue to come up with a whimsical editorial that doesn't look like every other editorial ever.

>> Leave it to British Vogue to come up with a whimsical editorial that doesn't look like every other editorial ever. The spread, "Star Signs," shot by Tim Gutt in conjunction with stylist Kate Phelan and set designer Shona Heath, captures Siri Tollerod as each of the 12 astrological signs for the magazine's December 2010 issue.

Speaking of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman is coming up on 20 years as editor of the magazine in 2012, and in preparation, she says she's planning to give the magazine a redesign in March to make the format less rigid. Although, she specifies: "I'm more interested in Vogue's 100th anniversary than my 20th," indicating that she plans to stick around until at least 2016.

White House | Black Market Gets Michelle O Boost

It seems anything Michelle Obama touches these days turns to gold.

It seems anything Michelle Obama touches these days turns to gold. White House | Black Market is no exception. The clothing store, which gained major popularity last year when the first lady wore one of its $148 print dresses on The View, is one of the few companies increasing its ad spending this Fall. No word on the exact budget, but we do know that its ads, featuring model Siri Tollerød (left), will run in September issues of InStyle, Vogue, Elle, Lucky, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar. They will also appear on NYC buses, bus shelters, and a billboard near the brand’s Flatiron location. What's more, the brand may expand its retail presence in Manhattan. Good luck!

Fab Ad: Guess Fall '09

For its Fall '09 campaign, Guess takes the brand back to its roots and focuses on its denim collection.

For its Fall '09 campaign, Guess takes the brand back to its roots and focuses on its denim collection. The ad features Norwegian model Siri Tollerod decked out in the brand's jeanious offerings. The side ponytail, studs, ripped tee, and denim vest all point to the '80s, and I'm kinda loving it. Check out how the gritty background and the couple making out behind Siri feed into the grungy vibe. Side note: my first pair of Guess jeans, circa 1993, had red and black vertical stripes with zippers on the side — wow. Are you loving Guess's denim revival campaign?

Amber Valletta opened the motorcade in a blue crystal-covered chariot, Anja Rubik was in attendance wearing her favorite label as of late, Balmain, and Sessilee Lopez sported a blonde wig for one of her turns during the catwalk festivities.  Heather Marks, Iris Strubegger, Emina Cunmulaj, Eliza Cummings, Kinga Rajzak, Sara Blomqvist all also participated, plus first-timer Stephanie Carta, who described the experience as "a fantasy world of glitter and botox and some kind of neverending celebration."

Chanel's Cruise 2010 Show Lands on the Boardwalk at Sunset in Venice

>> Yesterday was all fittings and a dinner party — which host Karl Lagerfeld and his entourage were a full two hours late for (blame it on the fittings and Lady Amanda Harlech's mosquito-stung eye) — but the Chanel Cruise 2010 was this evening at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Lido Resort in Venice.

Siri Tollerod, Heidi Mount, Liu Wen, Charlotte di Calypso, and Denisa Dvorakova were all in town to walk, powwowing with Lagerfeld for their fittings yesterday; add to that list Inguna Butane and Snejana Onopka, who sent photographic evidence of their arrival, plus Lara Stone and Tatjana Patitz, who walked the finale with Karl.

Carine Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt were spotted lounging in the sun on the Hotel Europa's terrace pre-show, and at the Excelsior Lido, white tents were set up on the beach and the pier lit up. The catwalk was a boardwalk and the front row a line of deck chairs, with editors left to deal with their heels sinking into the sand.

Last night, Lagerfeld hinted that the clothes would be reminiscent of Peggy Guggenheim, the patron whose palazzo now houses Italy’s most important collection of twentieth-century art, and inspired by Venetian high-society of the '30s, with fabrics sourced from "the rich reds of the Renaissance, Fortuny's prints, and the chiaroscuro technique of the great Italian masters."

The show happened at sunset — Karl made everyone wait two hours because he wanted to start then — with the girls wearing Marchesa Casati-inspired wigs and makeup, the opening "sailor girl-inspired cream and navy knits" and a finale of metallic lace cocktail dresses.  Guests brought home a Chanel beach towel as souvenir.

ACE Awards Go Green for Stella McCartney

>> At last night's annual Accessories Council ACE Awards, Nicholas Ghesquiere may have been awarded Designer of the Year, Sally Singer the Marylou Luther Award for Fashion Journalism, and Tamara Mellon's Jimmy Choo the Brand of the Year, but Stella McCartney was awarded the most special treatment.

The designer, who was flanked by Helena Christensen, Coco Rocha, and Dean Koons and anointed with a new award, Green Designer of the Year, had her table completely set with salads while everyone else had "a decadent lobster plate."  And out of respect for her vegan views, even her award — a Judith Leiber miaundiere — was made green, with a black hemp lining in leather's stead and no stainless steel plating.  Such attention to detail kept Stella in a high mood — she joked as she accepted her award, "Little did I know that my award would be second to last and I would need to use the ladies' room after putting on my unitard outfit. But that's life!"
