If you want something done right, you might as well just do it yourself.
If you want something done right, you might as well just do it yourself. That was the impetus for 424 Fifth, a new private brand from department store Lord & Taylor, which launched its debut collection for Spring 2014 last night.
"The collection fills what we believe to be a void in the marketplace for stylish, wearable, well-priced fashion," said Mary Turner, the executive vice president of speciality for Hudson's Bay, the parent company of Lord & Taylor. "We feel strongly that our core customer is underserved in this market and, as such, we are committed to building 424 Fifth as a compelling women's brand to satisfy this need."
The brand, pegged as a full lifestyle offering, includes both essential items suitable for day-to-evening dressing and statement fashion pieces, all priced from $29 to $375.
Named for Lord & Taylor's iconic Manhattan flagship address, it is likely the first of many private brand expansions and stays true to the luxury retailer's American sportswear aesthetic — versatile yet effortless, elevated yet fresh and modern, and all with a keen eye toward wearability. (Case in point: the full-skirt trend we've been spying on our favorite street style stars is getting made in an array of bold colors!)
Although the first delivery of the collection isn't happening until January, we couldn't wait to pull our four favorite looks from the lineup. Click on to see them all.
