Stacey Bendet Talks "Fantasy Street Style" For Fall '13
Just one look around Alice + Olivia's Fall 2013 presentation and you'd be struck with the high-impact texture, print, and statement accessories — all the standout pieces that add up to Stacey Bendet's take on "fantasy street style." While at the show, we were lucky enough to snag a few minutes with the designer, who talked inspiration points, styling, and favorite fashion decade. Watch on to hear that — and more — straight from Stacey, right here.
Alice + Olivia Takes On "Fantasy Street Style" For Fall '13
According to Stacey Bendet, the Alice + Olivia Fall '13 collection is diving into one of our favorite things: street style. And in her own words, it's "fantasy street style," at that. Marked by the whimsical, the baroque-inspired, the glamorous, and the punk, there's a little bit of everything to mix and match, just as the most seasoned street-style star would. To see every piece from the Alice + Olivia Fall '13 collection right here, keep watching!
Alice + Olivia Fall 2013 Runway
Stacey Bendet's girl got a dose of the opulent, the preppy, and the whimsical — which all make sense when you consider that Alice + Olivia's Fall 2013 was conceived with the designer's belief that there are no limits when it comes to personal style. No limits indeed; this season Bendet drew from our obsession with street style (how fitting for NYFW!), crafting a lineup that's both playful and cool, or as Bendet maybe defines it best: "fantasy street style." That's the common denominator — rather than adhering to any one trend, this was a world where the Baroque-inspired, glamorous, punk, and polished played off each other (we imagine a little like Stacey's own closet). Pieces like a quirky zebra crossbody bag and cheeky heels with faces spoke for themselves, the kind of one-offs street-style stars and celebrities will be wearing for the Fall (and getting snapped when they do).
- The set: Highline Stages were transformed into a French salon, with decadent chandeliers and waiters passing trays of bubbly.
- The front row: The Young Hollywood set — Katharine McPhee, Maggie Grace, Victoria Justice, Vanessa Hudgens, and The Carrie Diaries' AnnaSophia Robb.
- Trends: Plaid, florals, fur, lace.
- Key piece: As always, Bendet's line was stocked with sweet party frocks; this was also a first glimpse of her new hosiery collection, Alice + Olivia by Pretty Polly which launches this Fall.
Alice + Olivia's Stacey Bendet on the "Rules" of Wearing Leopard Print
We're all guilty of getting a little too print-happy at times, but where leopard prints are concerned, Alice + Olivia's Stacey Bendet has got you covered. We spoke with the designer at her Spring 2013 presentation, where she revealed her "rule of thumb" for wearing the exotic pattern, her '50s throwback inspiration (think American Dream), and what it feels like to have an arsenal of celeb fans. With her styling pointers to give and insight to share, click play to find out what Stacey had to say.
Alice + Olivia Spring 2013
Stacey Bendet crafted her latest collection with the optimism of the '50s American dream. The resulting party dresses and cocktail wares may just be what the young Hollywood set, like attendees Jamie Chung and Odette Annable, are dreaming of wearing all Spring. Looks ran the gamut from feminine fit-and-flare dresses done up in metallics to a polka-dot-peplum-and-pedal-pusher set and a surprise, paint-splattered full-length bustier dress. It was already clear that Bendet knew her way around a party dress, but this season she proves she also knows a few things about evening gowns; hers came in gorgeous, embroidered finishes, not to mention dressed-down — but still feminine — casual looks that also hinted at the designer's retro influence.
- Trends: Crop tops, pedal-pushers, peplum, polka-dots, florals, and metallics.
- Colors: White, brown, black, yellow, bright orange, pops of blue and mint green, lavender, and gray.
- Key Piece: The paint-splattered bustier dress; an embellished bustier was an unexpected counter to a polished white skirt and bright orange jacket.
- Accessories: Lace-up pointed-toe booties, pointed-toe pumps, ankle-strap sandals, cat-eye sunglasses, structured satchels.
- Who Should Wear It: You can expect to see the 20something Hollywood crowd showing off these looks all over red-carpet events.
A First Look at The Target Neiman Marcus CFDA Collaboration in Action

First up: this just-released and pretty intriguing behind-the-scenes glimpse at the collaboration's starting point, which, logically, included lots of meetings in colorfully decorated studios and lots of fabric, print, and sketch reviews. The video shows all that, plus offers cameo appearances by nearly every one of the collaboration's key players, including — but not limited to — Diane von Furstenberg, Ken Downing, Eddie Borgo, Georgina Chapman, Robert Rodriguez, Tracy Reese, Stacey Bendet, and Prabal Gurung. See it all below, and keep those eyes peeled for any clues as to what the 50-piece Holiday collection might actually look like.

Alice + Olivia Spring 2012
There's nothing quite like a "secret garden party" to break up the slew of runways and presentations during fashion week. That's exactly what Alice + Olivia's Stacey Bendet created yesterday with her party meets presentation, complete with floral-wrapped trellises, birdcages — and the cute Spring clothes to go with it. The collection was a mix of two eras, showing '60s-inspired vibrant floral print palazzo pants, bold striped flared trousers, draped jumpsuits, and a sweet array of mod dresses. Meanwhile, pretty sequined dresses — we especially loved the black and white striped rendition — nodded to Bendet's signature '40s flair. Now just who do we predict is expected to wear this collection? With celebs like Kourtney Kardashian, LeAnn Rimes, Eva Amurri, and beautiful singer Corinne Bailey Rae in full attendance, we have no doubt some these pieces will be swooped up soon. Check out more details from Alice + Olivia's sweet botanical-themed soiree below.
