Last week, while sipping a tasty Svedka cocktail and browsing the collection of totally unisex T-shirts with California surfer-inspired graphics in Sandro's latest collaboration with photographer Hugh Holland, we had a thought. While a graphic tee is traditionally saved for those super casual days, these awesome shirts with really cool details could actually be dressed up, or down for a number of different occasions. Which is to say: we've found your perfect summer tee.

What if I told you that you're burning calories throughout the day just in your regular activities? If you can up the intensity of everyday chores, you can burn more calories throughout the day and have a clean house! Here are 10 chores that will burn 100 calories:

1. You could catch up on your DVR episodes of Mad Men, but spending that 60 minutes washing and drying a sink full of dishes like a Betty Draper-esque housewife will be much more beneficial to your calorie count. Try multitasking entertainment and chores to burn 100 calories.

2. Bored of your morning beauty routine? Pinterest a new hairstyle, because holding your arms up to blow dry, straighten, and style your hair for 35 minutes will burn off 100 calories of breakfast.

3. You really should call your mother more often. Talking on the phone while walking around the house for 35 minutes will get you brownie points and burn enough calories for a 100-calorie brownie.

Would You Try Aqua Cycling?

AQUASpin

Hydro ride, pool biking, aqua cycling . . . whatever you want to call it, the low-impact workout that's hugely popular across Europe in countries like France, Italy, and Germany is finally making a splash in the States, too. And let us tell you — it's definitely interesting!

Currently, the Euro trend is being offered at only a handful of places in the United States, and the first boutique underwater cycling studio opened its doors to curious New Yorkers this past week. Three ambitious SELF staffers (myself and my editor included) tested the hydro bikes at AQUAStudio NY, a gorgeous TriBeCa studio that boasts modern, Zen-like decor that felt more like a Russian bathhouse than a gym. "I just want to live here!" a student in our class gushed.

But the new trendy studio, with its pint-size pool is oceans away from the high energy, lane-to-lane packed pools in many European classes, which often take place outdoors with the instructor on a bike on deck. (Need a visual? Check out the crazy YouTube vids.)

12 Things to Buy With J.Crew's New Supersneaky Promo Code

Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story from our friends at Lucky!

J.Crew's having a pretty great sale right now, but it's a bit of a stealthy one — something you might miss if you don't have your reading glasses on. I sort of get why their homepage is a giant tribute to Mother's Day — those responsible girls out there are probably already shopping for the May 10 holiday — but this sale is not only more pressing (it started today and only goes through Sunday, April 28), it's also unusually good.

No men's suits or stuff from other labels, i.e. the Barbour jackets or Cambridge Satchel bags, but everything else in store and online is fair game. All you have to do is type in the promo code, SPRINGBEST, for 25 percent off at checkout. Which really deserves a flashier, grander announcement than the size 8 font that's tucked below the navigation bar, don't you think?

How to Fix Health Problems With Exercise

By Jessica Girdwain

Ever wonder why you feel so great after you break a sweat? Turns out, exercise isn't just an effective flab-fighter — it's a remedy for pretty much any troubling health issue you are facing: anxiety, insomnia, back pain — even hot flashes. "When it comes to preventing health problems, exercise is one of the best medicines we have," says David Katz, MD, founding director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center. But some workouts are better than others for healing what ails you. Try these active solutions.

Anxiety
A proven way to ease anxiety naturally is with a bout of cardio, says Michael Otto, PhD, co-author of Exercise for Mood and Anxiety. Getting your heart pumping increases the release of mood-stabilizing neurotransmitters, like serotonin, norepinephrine and GABA, which is why you can feel like you're sweating off stress during Spinning class.

The good vibes continue: A study in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise showed that doing 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise (jogging, not sprinting) makes you more resilient against stressors hours later, like preparing for that big meeting with your boss. And over the long term, "people who work out consistently report less overall stress, anxiety and depression," Otto says.

Your fitness Rx: Do a quick blast of cardio on the morning of a hectic day, or to unwind at the end of one. If possible, take it outside — numerous studies show that fresh air provides a big mood boost.

Daytime sleepiness
Instead of leaning on caffeine (which can prevent you from falling asleep later, causing drowsiness again the next day), get moving. Folks who meet the recommended physical activity guidelines of 150 minutes a week are 65 percent less likely to feel tuckered out during the day, a 2011 study found. "Exercisers fall asleep faster, suffer fewer middle-of-the-night wake-ups and have a reduced risk of sleep disorders," says study co-author Brad Cardinal, PhD, co-director of the sport and exercise psychology program at Oregon State University.

Translation? You'll snooze more soundly and feel more energized on the go. "We aren't sure why activity primes your body for sleep so well, but it's likely a combination of factors, including lowering your core body temperature, increasing the sleep-promoting hormone melatonin and supporting a biological need to restore energy levels and repair cells and tissues when you sleep," Cardinal says.

Your fitness Rx: Aim for 150 minutes per week of moderate activity. Try to work in some yoga; a 2012 study found that practicing yoga along with deep-breathing techniques relieved insomnia within four months. Wrap up your workout at least three hours before you hit the sack: Exercise can be too stimulating near bedtime.

Wedding Afterparty Etiquette

We're happy to present this story from one of our favorite sites, Brides magazine.

We're happy to present this story from one of our favorite sites, Brides magazine.

It's 2 a.m., Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" is wailing, and there's a crowd of people in your bridal suite. What's going on? It's the after-party—here's how to keep it moving.

Wait a minute — an "after-party to the party?"

That's right. An after-party is a relatively informal post-reception gathering that's all about prolonging the wedding festivities into the wee hours of the morning. The trend is gaining popularity because many guests have traveled so far to attend that they and the newlyweds don't want the evening to come to a close. Also, many couples spend the majority of the reception greeting and chatting with guests they're not close to, so by the end of the night you may feel like you haven't had a single bite to eat or any time for your "real" friends. "The after-party is a time when everyone you love, especially those you don't get to see often, gathers together on a more intimate level," says Karen Robinovitz, coauthor of Fête Accompli! The Ultimate Guide to Creative Entertaining, who threw a party after her own nuptials.

What are they like?

Most after-parties involve snacking and drinking at a spot that doesn't require reservations or an additional rental fee. The hotel bar or a nearby watering hole are great choices. Karen staged her after-party outside by the hotel pool. Guests joined her and her husband for a late-night dip, cookies and milk, and fun conversation while an iPod played tunes in the background (a friend took care of this detail). The ambience was laid-back and lighthearted, especially when some of the guests busted out Twister and Operation (Karen had brought the board games along for laughs).

Do I have to have an after-party?
Of course not! You're not obligated to throw one. There are lots of reasons you might skip it: You're exhausted, or want to head to the honeymoon suite, or simply aren't up for more face time. Do what's right for you. Just keep in mind that your guests may take matters into their own hands. You don't have to be involved.

What if I want to plan something specific for my friends?
Go for it. Most after-parties have a last-minute, throwntogether feel. Still, giving this aspect of the wedding some thought will of course make things easier. Jes Gordon of the New York City and L.A.-based Proper Fun suggests planning out how many guests you think will attend, taking into account how young they are. "Let's say 50 percent of your guests are in their twenties," says Jes, "and it's a large wedding. You can expect 20 to 35 percent of these folks to show up for an after-party." Jes has orchestrated fêtes that feature alcohol and greasy-spoon goodies in settings that are party-animal-friendly. Once you know the size and nature of your crowd, you can make decisions about the after-party's location, what to serve, etc.

We'll have a mellow crowd . . . does that matter?
Only in a good way. Mellow crowds are easy to manage. All they want is a comfy seat and a place where they don't have to scream to carry on a conversation. The bridal suite, if it has a large, separate space, is an option — provided you'll be comfortable walking through the French doors into the bedroom and telling folks to clear out. Better yet, pay for a guaranteed after-partier (a college roomate?) who's staying in the hotel to upgrade to a suite. It can be very low-key — think couch cushions, pillows, and blankets to create the ultimate slumber party. "This format is perfect for smaller weddings," says Jes, "when the couple doesn't expect more than 20 people to attend."

What about décor? What about invites? I won't have the time to plan an after-party, much less the money to expand the budget!
Don't panic. We know you've blown your budget or are pretty darn close to it, so keep it simple. Delegate responsibilities to someone else: One of your bridesmaids (not the maid of honor, she's done enough) or groomsmen can handle it. Invite your guests via e-mail or word of mouth, and reuse floral arrangements from the reception. If you're having the party at a bar or club, music won't be necessary. Otherwise, have one of your friends rig something up. As for refreshments, anything goes (including leftover wedding cake). Karen found a way to serve her midnight treats with a caterer's flair: grocery-bought munchies arranged on a silver platter from home. And if there are any unopened bottles of booze after the reception, bring 'em.

It's 3 a.m. and we need to sleep! When will this party end?
Eventually. Newlyweds typically attend the after-party, but you should feel free to say your goodbyes after an hour. Sooner or later, wedding-party members will start to disperse. "Once the key players split," says Jes, "everyone tends to go. They fizzle out faster than you'd think." But it sure was fun while it lasted . . .

Style Note: Translating Trends in the Workplace

We are thrilled to share this story from Lauren Conrad!

We are thrilled to share this story from Lauren Conrad! The TV personality, writer, designer, and style maven has started LaurenConrad.com, a social networking site that features daily posts by Lauren on all our favorite topics — fashion, beauty, food, party planning — and Lauren will be sharing her latest fashion finds with POPSUGAR Fashion every month. This week, she's giving us her tips for taking Spring's biggest trends into the office.

So you’ve stocked your closet full of the latest spring trends (hello lace and stripes!). But now that it’s time to actually wear your new threads, you can’t figure out how to make them look office appropriate. This is a common case of confusion that affects every working girl at one time or another. That said, today I’m going to show you how to style 5 spring trends so that they can be wearable in the workplace . . .

Trend #1: Stripes
While your pinstripe shorts and tank tops might show off a little too much skin for work, there are still endless ways to wear this pattern in the office. I love the look of a black and white striped blazer paired with neutral separates. And a classic pinstripe button-down blouse can give a lackluster dress suit some flair.

Trend #2: Printed Pants
I’m having a love affair with floral and ikat denim for spring, but not all offices consider jeans part of their dress code. Put a professional twist on the trend with a pair of patterned silk pants that look more formal than jeans. I would suggest keeping within a general color scheme so that your look doesn’t come off as loud. Also, black and white patterns tend to come off a little more sophisticated than colorful ones.

5 Myths About Gay Men Debunked

We're happy to present this excerpt from one of our favorite sites, YourTango.

We're happy to present this excerpt from one of our favorite sites, YourTango. Not only are these stereotypes unfair — they're untrue!

With same-sex marriage cases Hollingsworth v. Perry (the challenge to California's Proposition 8) and United States v. Windsor (the challenge to the Federal Defense of Marriage Act) in the hands of the Supreme Court, it only seems proper to set aside some stereotypes people have made about gay men and our sexual desires and activities.

For whatever reason, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders and other members affiliated with the (LGBTQ) community keep getting this bad rep for being "sexual deviants of society." Yet, if a married heterosexual couple chooses to embark into their own private world of Fifty Shades Of Grey, enjoying a romp into BDSM, they're doing it under the sanctity of marriage! How many straight, married couples have felt the spontaneous desire to pull off to the side of the road for a quick romp? Understand my point yet?

It's a rather a crude joke that every situation described in the aforementioned paragraph are stereotypical definitions of gay men. With all due respect, until you've been a gay man and walked in his shoes, don't assume to know what makes him stand at attention in his Levi's 501's!

  1. All gay men have multiple sex partners! Simply not true. Just because you think it's so, doesn't it make it so. Many gay men casually date and never get to the bedroom together until they're in a monogamous relationship or, at least, have made each other work for it! It's more common than you might think, but you never thought to ask . . . did you?

Shopping Mad Men: So Many Neck Scarves!

Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story from our friends at Lucky!

Mad Men's sixth season is now officially in high gear and its third episode, "The Collaborators" made us want to weep for the women on the show. Infidelity, miscarriages and brothels made this week's viewing both titillating and heartbreaking, as only Mad Men can. Megan deals with a personal tragedy, Peggy is bullied at work, and, of course, Don continues to behave like a big smarmy jerk (with flashbacks to boot). Like Don's philandering, the '60s glamour was also unstoppable this week (so many neck scarves!), which is why we shopped some of our favorite looks.
