A red carpet without jewelry is like a candy store without, well, candy. Large earrings may be making their mark in the fashion world, but that doesn't mean statement necklaces are over. No, no. In fact, a handful of ladies strutted the red carpet in necklaces that beautifully complemented their gowns and elevated their looks. Amy Adams (in Fred Leighton), Taraji Henson, and Amanda Seyfried's necklaces had the most wow of the night, but Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard also decked their necks out.
Considering fishtail skirts are a big part of bridal fashion, it makes sense that they were also popular at the Oscars. What's the connection? Well, the Oscars is the biggest, fanciest award show of the season, hence, it calls for drama, drama, and more drama. Beyonce, Melissa George, Freida Pinto, Vanessa Hudgens, and Taraji Henson all wore dresses with fishtails tonight. Some were more voluminous than others, but they all brought elegance to the carpet. The most eye-catching fishtail? Melissa George's bright white Dolce & Gabbana.
The always-glamorous Taraji P. Henson graced the Oscar red carpet tonight in a cream mermaid gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorized with a gorgeous Fred Leighton 19th-century necklace and a Mary Norton clutch. She looks beautiful and classic. What do you think?

Charlize Theron joined forces with Diane Lane and Josh Brolin in LA on Thursday night for the launch of the BRANDAID Foundation, which will send money to support Haitian artists. Current Oscar nominee Josh struck a few poses with past winner Charlize, while two of the Best Supporting Actress Nominees, Taraji P. Henson and Marisa Tomei, posed for photos and made their way around the room. We're sure to see lots more of Marisa, Taraji and Josh as the weekend's award festivities continue, but hopefully Charlize will also show up on another red carpet in one of her signature knockout gowns.
Halle Berry met up with Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson yesterday afternoon for ESSENCE magazine's Black Women in Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There's extra cause for celebration this year, as it's only the second time in Oscars history that two black women, Taraji and Viola Davis, are nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress. As someone with her own statue at home, Halle probably has a great deal of guidance to offer first-timer Taraji — starting with how to pick a memorable gown.
The 2009 NAACP Image Awards came to LA's Shrine Auditorium with cohosts Halle Berry and Tyler Perry leading the way. Everyone looked fantastic hitting the red carpet and mingling with old friends during the show — check out all of Fab's love it or hate it polls here. Dakota Fanning chose yet another strapless number but still looked perfectly pretty. Al Gore found his way into a conversation with Will Smith who had his wife for a date. Jennifer Hudson took home the Best New Artist award and said, "Now don't start me to crying again, y'all. It's always an honor to come home and feel welcome and to feel the love."
Rihanna was up for Female Performer of the year, but it was Beyonce who took the prize and also performed at the event. Diddy took home the award for TV Movie Actor while Will Smith and Rosario Dawson both won for Seven Pounds. Best picture went to The Secret Life of Bees — check out all the winners here. Seal performed with the choir, though it was Stevie Wonder who stole the show at his piano and Muhammad Ali who took the stage in a powerful moment.

Let's kick off the 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards with Taraji Henson. The actress stepped onto the red carpet in a chartreuse gown that has thick straps and an interesting tiered bottom. Chunky gold jewels and a matching gold clutch complete the look. Do you love it or hate it?

Jake Gyllenhaal looked like a distinguished gentleman in his hat and scarf with those piercing baby blue eyes at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on Friday. The event honored David Fincher, who Jake worked with on Zodiac. Fincher posed with actress Taraji Henson who looked lovely accessorizing her nude dress with bold jewelry. Recently Brad Pitt had been making the rounds with his director but has been busy in Japan with his family. Benjamin Button has been getting a lot of nominations this award season so its rewarding director got a night dedicated in his honor.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn't win at the Critics' Choice Awards, but it was still a busy night for the power couple. After lighting up the red carpet, they signed posters and mingled with fellow actors like Brad's Button costar Taraji Henson. Angelina also mentioned her plans to take on fewer projects in the future and gushed about Brad's performance in the movie. She said, "When I first saw the film, there were a lot of blue masks that they had to put on his face, so the first half I didn't see his acting inside the little guy. Then, when I saw him when he was young . . . he is just so charming. I was really moved. I thought he was wonderful." Somehow we're not surprised that seeing Brad go back to his younger years was fun for Angelina, and it sounds like she's perfectly happy to keep watching her man work as she takes a break.
