Oscars Trend Alert: Sizzling Statement Necklaces

A red carpet without jewelry is like a candy store without, well, candy. Large earrings may be making their mark in the fashion world, but that doesn't mean statement necklaces are over. No, no. In fact, a handful of ladies strutted the red carpet in necklaces that beautifully complemented their gowns and elevated their looks. Amy Adams (in Fred Leighton), Taraji Henson, and Amanda Seyfried's necklaces had the most wow of the night, but Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard also decked their necks out.

Oscars Red Carpet Trend: Fab Fishtails

Considering fishtail skirts are a big part of bridal fashion, it makes sense that they were also popular at the Oscars.
Oscars Red Carpet Trend: Fab Fishtails

Considering fishtail skirts are a big part of bridal fashion, it makes sense that they were also popular at the Oscars. What's the connection? Well, the Oscars is the biggest, fanciest award show of the season, hence, it calls for drama, drama, and more drama. Beyonce, Melissa George, Freida Pinto, Vanessa Hudgens, and Taraji Henson all wore dresses with fishtails tonight. Some were more voluminous than others, but they all brought elegance to the carpet. The most eye-catching fishtail? Melissa George's bright white Dolce & Gabbana.

Charlize Theron joined forces with Diane Lane and Josh Brolin in LA on Thursday night for the launch of the BRANDAID Foundation, which will send money to support Haitian artists. Current Oscar nominee Josh struck a few poses with past winner Charlize, while two of the Best Supporting Actress Nominees, Taraji P. Henson and Marisa Tomei, posed for photos and made their way around the room. We're sure to see lots more of Marisa, Taraji and Josh as the weekend's award festivities continue, but hopefully Charlize will also show up on another red carpet in one of her signature knockout gowns.

Halle and Taraji Are Ladies Who Lunch

Halle Berry met up with Academy Award nominee Taraji P.

Halle Berry met up with Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson yesterday afternoon for ESSENCE magazine's Black Women in Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There's extra cause for celebration this year, as it's only the second time in Oscars history that two black women, Taraji and Viola Davis, are nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress. As someone with her own statue at home, Halle probably has a great deal of guidance to offer first-timer Taraji — starting with how to pick a memorable gown.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Loves Young Brad Just as Much as the Rest of Us

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn't win at the Critics' Choice Awards, but it was still a busy night for the power couple.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn't win at the Critics' Choice Awards, but it was still a busy night for the power couple. After lighting up the red carpet, they signed posters and mingled with fellow actors like Brad's Button costar Taraji Henson. Angelina also mentioned her plans to take on fewer projects in the future and gushed about Brad's performance in the movie. She said, "When I first saw the film, there were a lot of blue masks that they had to put on his face, so the first half I didn't see his acting inside the little guy. Then, when I saw him when he was young . . . he is just so charming. I was really moved. I thought he was wonderful." Somehow we're not surprised that seeing Brad go back to his younger years was fun for Angelina, and it sounds like she's perfectly happy to keep watching her man work as she takes a break.
