>> Olivier Theyskens Finally Returning to Design —It's been over a year since Olivier Theyskens has had a design outlet — he left Nina Ricci in March 2009 — but he's finally back. Theyskens will design a capsule collection for contemporary brand Theory, to be shown during the upcoming Spring 2011 season. Further details are currently unavailable. [WWD]
Trend Alert: Khaki on Khaki
At first read, khaki on khaki might remind you of your days as a girl scout, but hear me out. With the sleek utilitarian look in full tilt this season, it's only natural for the trend to rub off on its lighter sister. Take inspiration from Elle Macpherson's slick 'fit and do it right via cropped pants and a slightly darker top. Or, pair a flirty short skirt with a cute button-up for a quick summertime ensemble. Most importantly, don't forget to accessorize with funky accessories.
Private Practice Style: Violet Turner
Violet Turner is stepping it up in the style department for her trial, looking chic and sophisticated once again. In this scene, she wears a double-breasted ivory Theory blazer with matching Ralph Lauren pants and a Ralph Lauren ruffle collar blouse very similar to this one by Fendi. The DKNY shoes shown here as well as earrings and a necklace by Satya complete her look. Shop it all now!

Rashida Jones Plays Stylist For Theory, Helps a Good Cause
Actress Rashida Jones kicked off a new initiative by Theory called Fashion Insider: Stylecause. Essentially, she's taken her favorite Spring pieces and given them her own preppy chic spin, all for a good cause. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of the items in each outfit will be donated to Peace First and Children Mending Hearts. Look out for Theory to continue this fashionably philanthropic program with many other stylish celebrities. Ready to help now? Then shop Rashida's three crisp looks.
>> Theory's Andrew Rosen to Invest in Proenza Schouler? —Early on this month, reports came that Permira, which owns a minority stake in Proenza Schouler, was shopping its interest in the label around. Now, Fashionista's sources report that a day after the news broke, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez met with Andrew Rosen, CEO of Theory, who is an investor in labels like Rag & Bone and Alice + Olivia. There's no confirmation, but the timing suggests that perhaps Rosen is considering an investment in the brand. [Fashionista]
Spring Shopping: Desert Khaki From Alexander Wang, Theory, See by Chloé, and Balmain

Spring's military explosion morphed into more than a few desert storm safari looks for designers such as Alexander Wang and Balmain's Christophe Decarnin. Basic khaki staples like the classic trench and the shirt dress have been updated for 2010 with leather and suede paneling (Pringle of Scotland) and body-con cuts (Marc by Marc Jacobs). When it comes to footwear, Balmain's canvas ankle boots are a favorite, along with Alexander McQueen's cuffed version with grommets and Giuseppe Zanotti's army green, open-toe style.
Look Book Love: Theory, Summer 2010
Do you associate Theory with suits and paired-down pieces? Their Summer 2010 pieces will completely change your mind. Yes, the simplicity factor is still present, but it's spruced up for warm weather fun. Here are three looks that will make any girl instantly cooler. What I especially love is how the looks are paired with totally unexpected footwear, like the one-shouldered dress with oxfords instead of sandals. There are way more flirty frocks, rockin' denim, and rompers where that came from. Click through to experience Theory's amazingly styled Summer look book.

Lovers of all things basic, good news: Theory has added an ecommerce component to its site. Sweet! Now, you can go straight to the source for simple yet impeccably made basics. I'll definitely be shopping away, but I have a feeling I'll be spending more time in the section titled Insider Looks. New York Fashion Week, Fall 2010: What Did Fab Pack?
I'm ready to go. Unfortunately, a powerful lady called Mother Nature is hanging up my New York Fashion Week. Flights are delayed, shows postponed, due to a big Winter storm happening right now. But I'm all packed! I'm based out of San Francisco and therefore travel to NYC every Fashion Week. Packing has always been a challenge. Isn't it the worst when you really want to wear something on a trip and you didn't bring it? That used to happen to me all the time at Fashion Week — and when what you wear is imperative to making an impression, it blows. I also used to bring too much. For some reason I didn't feel like I could wear something twice . . .
Reality check: I've got tons of great clothes, laundry is possible, and no one is really looking at me; it's all about who's in the front row. Plus, I like to be comfortable and am constantly in motion. I went from bringing three pairs of heels to one — strictly for parties. These days, February Fashion Week is all about vintage coats, cashmere, black, blue, cool layers, sequins and embroidery, exotic prints, flirty skirts, flats boots, favorite jewelry, and fresh hats. One large suitcase and one small, which carries my outerwear and trusty laptop. Want to see exactly what I packed?
