Last season might have been all about print-on-print-on-print, but Spring's latest leans toward a more subtle way of styling your bold patterns. At the Diesel and Edun Studio Africa party in LA, brand ambassador Solange Knowles showed us how to style printed shorts (one of our seasonal must haves) for a look that's high on impact, but not over the top. The key to getting this trend right is finding the perfect pair of statement shorts — we suggest a pair that's not too tight and not too short — and pairing it with minimal accompaniments. Solange's abstract-print cuffed Edun shorts pop against her white Theyskens' Theory sheer-sleeve blouse, while gold metallic sandals add just the right amount of shine to her party look. Kate Bosworth stuck close to fiancé Michael Polish's side during their latest NY Fashion Week outing to see the Theyskens' Theory Spring 2013 collection yesterday. Model Doutzen Kroes was also on hand for the presentation while designer Olivier Theyskens took time to pose with Kate as well. The couple, who recently got engaged, has been busy attending shows since the stylish fun kicked off last week. Kate's diamond ring has been on display as she makes the rounds, and she's also been sharing her own snaps from events. Lots of celebrities have been posting behind-the-scenes pictures from Fashion Week on Twitter and Instagram, and there's more to come as the front-row excitement continues until Sept. 13.

Olivier Theyskens's considerable talent for matching slouch with sleek was in full effect for Resort 2013. Among this season's standouts? A relaxed, cape-back jumpsuit with draped waist ties and a chiffon-sleeved minidress, the body of which was covered hem to hilt in sequins textured to shimmer like the skin of some exotic fish. While the details — a psychedelic oil-spill print here, a smattering of irridescent feathers there — lent a vaguely subversive spin, the palette of black, gray, and wine kept everything on the easy-wearing citified side. After all, "Resort is really about essentials that speak to modern life," the designer explained.
