Congratulations are in order for a group of young designers including Joseph Altuzarra, Bibhu Mohapatra, and Wes Gordon, all of whom are in the American finals for the 2014 International Woolmark Prize.

The group of finalists, which includes seven other design houses, will compete for the opportunity to go up against designers from Australia, China, India, and Europe in Milan next year. One American designer will be selected to represent the United States this July, when the 10 finalists present competition collections made with merino wool.

The prize for breaking through the other finalists and into the last round of competition is $100,000 toward that designer's next collection; the international prize is another $100,000, plus the opportunity to sell the winning collection in stores all over the world.

A look at who else is in the running, here in the gallery.

Lucky magazine is one of our favorite sources for great shopping tips. We're thrilled to share this fabulous story from our friends at Lucky!

The latest installment of Anthropologie's Made in Kind designer collections hits stores today, and includes collections by New York hipster label Timo Weiland, tea-dress master Tracy Reese, Los Angeles indie boutique TenOverSix, and artist Sophie Duran.

"There's very much an understanding of each other's aesthetic," said Weiland of his namesake brand and Anthro at last week's New York City party celebrating the collections. "There's a nice juxtaposition between our uptown meets downtown girl, contemporary art obsessed and this youthful, very romantic bohemian attitude, and I think that's the crossover." Weiland and his design partner Alan Eckstein's collection, called "Vessel," features earthy printed blouses, ruffled skirts and my personal favorite, a laser-cut eyelet suede dress.

Reese's line includes six brightly colored party dresses, perfect for the impending party season. Like the Timo Weiland boys, Reese found it easy to fuse her own label's aesthetic with Anthropologie's. "It's sort of a natural match. I think that our customer has so much in common, it's like almost the same girl," she said. "I feel like the customer here, silhouette wise, loves a little fit and flare dress — so do I. We're girls! Not just girlie girls, but people who embrace color, are playful . . . not so sober and overly serious. I think that we share a certain spirit."

There was a new maturity in the Spring 2013 show Alan Weckstein and Timo Weiland designed for Weiland's namesake label, a joint men's and women's collection that drew inspiration from the oft-referenced artwork of Keith Haring.

Fashion visits and samples from Haring's opus frequently, and sometimes literally, but these young designers didn’t claim any of the artist's graffiti images for their own. Instead, they let Haring's use of black and white inform the beginning of their collection, pairing staples like a white baseball jacket with a dark blue button collar shirt, and drawing a dark gray line along the sleeves of a simple long-sleeved cotton t-shirt.

While the men's looks stuck with a sporty theme that touched militarism — at times incorporating floral prints and jackets and pants in olive drab — the women's clothing evolved into a sophisticated selection of garments that employed multicolored stripes and herringbone prints to allude to Haring's graffiti. A beige coat was accented with a zoomed-in version of the suiting pattern in neon yellow, while a white-and-gold cocktail dress was elevated with an attached black tulle halter and a crystal-studded collar.

Timo Weiland Runway 2012 Fall

>> Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein took a post-punk trip to '90s-era New York for Fall 2012. There were slip dresses, super-long skirts, halter necks, chokers, and — for added authenticity — velvets and plaids. But it wasn't just straight redux. The duo managed to keep it looking modern — and quite appealing — with sleek leather, vibrant florals, and a smattering of fur.

>> With just over a month before New York Fashion Week, show news is already starting to trickle in. For the first time, Tory Burch, Marchesa, and Timo Weiland are all said to be ditching presentations for runway shows; Mark Fast is showing his Faster line in New York instead of London this season; and now, J.Crew is on the preliminary schedule for what appears to be a presentation on the morning of Sept. 13.
