The whirlwind that was Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week has come and gone, and that can only mean one thing: London Fashion Week, here we come. Our first day was off to a roaring good start, with a jam-packed schedule that included a peek at Topshop's NewGen designers, the Todd Lynn show, a chat with Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, the Antipodium show, and plenty of that famous London Fashion Week street style. Along the way, we also spotted some of our favorite fashion faces: The Kills's Alison Mosshart, Kate Lanphear, Derek Blasberg, and Leigh Lezark.

And what better end to a perfect, nonstop day than this: Issa's gorgeous Spring 2013 show, which we were lucky enough to snap from the front row. An inside look at all that and more, right here, in the first installment of our Spring 2013 London Fashion Week diary.
Todd Lynn Fall 2012
>> Todd Lynn focused on the idea of "corrupted elegance" for Fall 2012. To that end, the designer worked a bit of deconstruction into his usual sculptural aesthetic: asymmetrical panels, draped silk, and geometric cutouts. There were some knock-out looks here, including some fluid silk suits in dusty mauves and deep brown. A long-sleeved dress in an intriguing burn-out star print and a luxe chocolate wool coat with an oversized folder collar were other winners.

Spring Peek: Laid-back

If you're not off venturing to exotica or taking risks with avant-garde and the funky bunch, maybe you'd rather stay home and be laid-back. Spring has a diverse group of trends for us to eat up and those seeking solstice can feast their eyes here. Light fabrics and relaxed silhouettes were elegant on the Spring runways — such was the case at Emporio Armani (pictured) where girls looked beyond cool. Laid-back and super stylish? Yeah baby.

On Our Radar: Topshop Capsule Collections

Fashionable things are brewing over at Topshop. Starting mid-Jan, capsule collections by London-based Jonathan Saunders (Thandie Newton favorite) and Louise Goldin are set to come out. Saunders' pieces include black and grey jersey T-shirts and dresses with geometric prints. Goldin's include knit dresses woven in bright blues, reds, and oranges. Following that, on January 28, more capsule collections will arrive from Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Todd Lynn, and Richard Nicoll.
