Remember last year's big bottled-juice trend? Well, it appears to be moving beyond juice bars and into cocktail bars. At an increasing number of venues across the country, health junkies and boozehounds have a place to convene and enjoy their gin with fresh-pressed ginger.

At Soaked in Manhattan's Mondrian SoHo, guests can lounge on the rooftop with "orchard to bar" cocktails, such as the 100 Mile Margarita, made with apple, pear, pineapple, and wheatgrass juice. LA's Parisian-themed cocktail lounge Pour Vous offers a new take on carrot juice with pear eau de vie, and Verveine Velay Jaune.

We had a chance to sample the trend here in San Francisco at Nectar Wine Lounge, which has recently launched a juice-centric brunch with Thrive juicery. In lieu of mimosas and Bellinis, customers can choose between Day at the Spa (apple, cucumber, fennel, and mint), Pink Pearl (strawberry, pineapple, pear, mint), and True Blood (red beets and navel orange), all with Baron de Seillac sparkling wine. "It's a fun way to offer the benefits of fresh-pressed juices and the already well-known benefits of wine consumption," owner Chris Potter told us.

A red carpet always calls for amped-up glamour, but the eyelashes at the 2012 American Music Awards were above and beyond. With loads of mascara and plenty of false lashes thrown in for good measure, three ladies made this look something to talk about. Always one for over-the-top style, Nicki Minaj donned heavy top lashes that brought a seductive edge to her appearance. Taking the mod look to modern times, Ginnifer Goodwin exaggerated her bottom lashes by clumping them together and adding multiple coats of mascara. And Ke$ha kept things even more alluring with fanned-out lower lashes that you could see across the room.

To nail the trend, reach for a lengthening mascara, such as Benefit They're Real! Mascara ($23), or pick up a pack of individual lashes, like these ones from Make Up For Ever ($16). Whichever method you choose, you'll be sure to make a showstopping statement.

If you're constantly trying to decide between wavy or straight hair, you're in luck. Lately, scores of famous faces have been stepping out with hair that straddles the texture line: straight, sleek hair on top slowly meandering into soft waves. Mindy Kaling, Keke Palmer, and Sophia Bush are all fans of this hybrid style. It's great for everyday wear, but can also be amped up for a glamorous, formal event.

To get this easy, texture-heavy look, mist your hair with a thermal spray such as Dove Thermal Replenishment Spray ($5) and then dry it with a round brush. Take a flat iron and smooth it over the top portion of your hair, from about your roots to the bottom of your ears. To achieve the waves, you can either curl your hair with your flat iron or use a 1.5-inch curling iron on just the ends. Keep the look in place with a good holding hair spray, and you'll never have to choose between two textures again.

Lately, it seems as though every restaurant is introducing drinks with the most unlikely of savory ingredients. We recently noted sweet heat making an appearance in cocktails, and there are, of course, those classic cocktails whose seemingly odd savory pairings actually work miraculously (a dirty martini and spicy Bloody Mary come to mind). But a number of newer concepts with less-than-conventional drink ingredients — beef, bacon, vinegar, and whole egg, to name a few — are also poised to make their mark.

San Francisco's Fifth Floor restaurant serves a Wild Goose Chase cocktail that is rimmed with foie gras powder rim and garnished with a foie gras-stuffed prune. Chicagoland area-based Vie offers The Ecto Shrub, a green cocktail whose chief ingredient is a vinegar-based okra syrup. Savory spices are branding cocktails, too: at Scott & Co. in Tuscon, AZ, the bar serves a whole slew of unusual cocktails, including the Grillo Canción, flavored with cumin syrup and celery bitters.
