Alexander Wang Takes His Spring 2010 After Party to a Gas Station

>> Alexander Wang may have changed up his collection's look for Spring 2010, but he's not about to lose his street cred.  He partnered with Katie Grand and LOVE, rented out a Mobil gas station last night, and brought a crowd — which included Trish Goff, Daphne Guinness, L'Wren Scott, Erin Wasson, Vanessa Traina, plus fellow designers Esteban Cortazar and Gareth Pugh.

Despite the fact that the station's gas tanks were drained yesterday afternoon and the venue drenched with nonflammable suds, cigarettes were verboten; nicotine-dependent guests were constantly reminded with "Please stop smoking!" announcements. To take their minds off those forbidden cigarette, there were performances by both Courtney Love, who told the audience she received (ironically) a carton of cigarettes and a pair of shoes to play, and Santigold; plus guests had a free run of anything in the station's convenience store: Bee Shaffer took advantage of the candy aisle.

Alexander, for his part, seemed to be enjoying himself — he chatted up Lily Donaldson and Frankie Rayder, got down with Hanne Gaby Odiele (below), and jumped onstage and into Courtney Love's arms during her performance.

Preen

Preen Goes In With '90s Grunge, Comes Out with Neon Pink for Spring 2010

>> The rain is beastly today, but that didn't keep Trish Goff or Alexa Chung — who arrived with her hair soaked — from the front row; Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi's baby, too, had a front row seat atop a minder's lap.

>> The rain is beastly today, but that didn't keep Trish Goff or Alexa Chung — who arrived with her hair soaked — from the front row; Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi's baby, too, had a front row seat atop a minder's lap.  Anna Selezneva opened the '90s grunge-inspired show, which featured dresses in holographic prints, lots of texture in both the fabric and ruffled panels curving around skirts and pieced onto dresses, and a finale full of highlighter pink. Cut-out wedge sandals finished off every look. Now, the question becomes: who's going to dare to wear the metallic silver Barberella-esque bustier dress?

Kate Bosworth

Rodarte Jets In to London for Private Dinner at Harvey Nicks

>> Fifty guests pulled up to a long white table at Harvey Nichol's Fifth Floor restaurant for a private dinner co-hosted by Rodarte's Laura and Kate Mulleavy and Kate Bosworth.  Daphne Guinness flitted in, spritzing at least one guest with her yet-to-be-released perfume, frequent Rodarte collaborator Nicholas Kirkwood also appeared — his shoes were represented on at least one guest's feet, Kate Bosworth — and told Grazia of his work with the designers: "We didn't even meet the first few seasons that we worked together.

Everything was over the phone and email. It was so great when we finally met. We get on so well and are on the same wave length. They always want to do something different — we've even made shoes out of electrical wire!"

Attendees Plum Sykes, Bella Freud, Trish Goff, and Lula's Leith Clark, who was seated next to Laura, were served nettle soup and trifle, and around midnight, when all headed home, the Mulleavys, Kate Bosworth, and Nicholas Kirkwood "headed out and onto another club."

The Comeback Kid: Trish Goff

If being an outlaw looks this good — then what are you waiting for?

If being an outlaw looks this good — then what are you waiting for? Elle's Outlaw Country editorial features comeback model Trish Goff, and what a smokin' resurgence it is. The 32-year-old has the tendency to model pretty — she once worked for Victoria's Secret and Ann Taylor — but I'm glad she chose this more coarse route. Naturally, Elle editor and stylist Kate Lanphear lent her rock 'n roll touch via stacked jewels, fringe vests, studded jackets, and western-style denim — visit Elle to welcome back the comeback kid.

Which New York Fashion Week Model Is Most Fab?

Fashion Week isn't merely the designers' time to shine.

Fashion Week isn't merely the designers' time to shine. It's also time for models to claim their stake on the catwalk. Along with some of the latest runway darlings like Anja Rubik, Arlenis Sosa, Karlie Kloss, and Natasha Poly, a few veterans like Tasha Tilberg and Trish Goff came back and proved they're still pros at the game. It wasn't easy narrowing down the selection, but these six stole the shows. You tell me: Which New York Fashion Week model is most Fab? (Top Row, L-R: Tasha Tilberg, Karlie Kloss, Arlenis Sosa)

Fall 2009: Not Just for 15-Year-Old Models

>> New York Fashion Week is known as the springboard for new faces every season, but for Fall 2009, it's become the springboard for comebacks — especially with models right around the 30-year-old mark.  This morning, Frankie Rayder (34), who hasn't hit a catwalk since the Fall 2004 with the exception of Spring 2009 Givenchy, walked Michael Kors.  The runways of Preen, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs have been especially overrun with these mainly late-'90s, early-00's faces — from those who have hovered in and out the past few seasons: Anne Catherine Lacroix (29), Natasa Vojnovic (29), Caroline Ribeiro (29), Jamie Bochert (28), Christina Kruse (34), Carmen Kass (30), Colette Pechekhonova (28), Hannelore Knuts (31); to those who have exited the runway for a while — Tasha Tilberg (29), Kirsten Owen (38), Trish Goff (32) — all are booking some of the most coveted spots this season.  Kors, Behnaz Sarafpour, Staerk, VPL, and Diane von Furstenberg are feeling it too — the mature woman is back in New York.*image: source

Preen

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2009: Preen

I wonder what Kanye West thought as he watched the leggy, determined Preen ponies flood the runway.

I wonder what Kanye West thought as he watched the leggy, determined Preen ponies flood the runway. Hotties! Preen always reminds me of the power designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi hold. This collection was not just hot swirly dresses and dramatic outerwear. The married duo played with oversized houndstooth, cut outs, fur, mohair, and pink metallic pants; you can tell these designers don't take themselves seriously, and man do they have skills. I think the reason I adore Preen so much is it's severe, but playful; an awesome combination. While Anja delivered the wow factor in her pastel chubby, it was surprising to see Trish Goff and Hannelore Knuts back in the model mix. I always welcome a model comeback, 'tis the season.

A Few Thoughts About Alexander Wang Fall 2009

>> The line to get into the Roseland Ballroom, where Alexander Wang showed his Fall 2009 collection, went down the entire block and around the corner — it stayed this way for a good half an hour or so after the show was scheduled to start .

>> The line to get into the Roseland Ballroom, where Alexander Wang showed his Fall 2009 collection, went down the entire block and around the corner — it stayed this way for a good half an hour or so after the show was scheduled to start . . . This season brought in the attendance of Alex's first big celebrity front row — Sarah Jessica Parker; also in attendance were Diane von Furstenberg, Patrick Robinson, and Philip Green of Topshop, the latter sparking some questions.  Green said Anna Wintour had just suggested that he come check the show out . . . Wang's obsession with Hooters continues — they provided the backstage catering . . . Alex wrote a sign backstage for the models promising "tequila shots for those who don't fall!!!" . . . Fur was worked into his collection for the first time . . . Anna Wintour brought Bee Shaffer along for the first time (lots of firsts); usually she just comes to Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs.  Does that mean Alex has moved up into Proenza and Marc territory in Anna's eyes? . . . Among the model cast were a few '90s and early '00s faces — Trish Goff (who's also supposed to walk Preen tomorrow), Tasha Tilberg, Natasa Vojnovic, Christina Kruse, and Hannelore Knuts — runway comebacks in the works?
