Trend Alert: Get Physical
The call to get physical was seen all over 2011 Spring Fashion Week. From Michael Kors's streamline sportswear to Prada's brights, it's clear that sporty is the new chic. Just take a peek at Maryna Linchuk showing off her sporty sensibility in the latest issue of Vogue Germany. Sure, an athletic bra is a bold way to go, but there are other ways to channel the trend. Mix and match a colorblock top with a chic pair of harem sweats; just be sure to finish with heels — your sneakers are better left for the gym.

VPL by Victoria Bartlett Pre-Fall 2010
Victoria Bartlett showed plenty of her signature knits and lingerie for her VPL pre-fall collection, using metallic thread to create the look of chain mail in draped tops and sweaters. Legwear stood out—in sheer gray or black—as did dolman-sleeved sweaters and harem-style trousers with ties at the waist. Check out some of our favorite looks in the gallery below.
Trend Alert: Wrapped in Gray
I've died and gone to gray heaven. My everyday neutral has been sexified by model Selita Ebanks, designer Haider Ackermann, and actress Paula Patton. They are all wrapped in gray, and I'm wrapped in envy. While gray is the perfect canvas for a colorful accessory, here it stands alone just fine. While the color may be safe, the cuts are anything but; ruched, draped, asymmetrical, slit, and one-shouldered, the party never ends. If you're seeking one dress to take you through the season, look no further.

Runway Report: VPL Spring 2010

Victoria Bartlett showed her spring 2010 collection for VPL at Pier 59 studios today. Titled "Atlas of Anatomy", Bartlett presented a series of deconstructed and reconstructed looks in shades of navy, black, cream, orange and beige with a little help from her accessory designing friends — Aran Baik knits, Lizzie Fortunato and Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer jewelry, and LD Tuttle footwear.
Always interested in manipulating shapes to create a complex silhouette, Bartlett shined in transparent leggings, an alabaster tunic with twisted cord knots, and the 16-look finale section of sheer nudes paired with shoulder pads or layered over sequined undergarments.
Also of note, a navy parachute fabric used for bloomers and jumpers, a coral shift dress with matching leggings, and the organically shaped Lizzie Fortunato for VPL necklaces in bone, rope, wood, and resin.
Bartlett used accessories to further her anatomical statement, and the aforementioned knits played a major role in pushing the theme. There were 'vertebrae knits' and 'sternum knits' — beautiful bits of yarn twisted together over the shoulder or neck, referencing the obvious skeletal structure.
Fab's 15 Fall Faves From Shopbop
Every time I peruse Shopbop, I end up with a cart-full of amazing items. Can I afford them all? By no means, but that doesn't stop me from obsessing. The retailer has stocked a staggering amount of cold-weather gear to keep us cozy and ahead of the fashion game come Fall. I'll give you a few hints about my favorites: studs, sequins, lace, leather, mixed metals, red, and bows. This Catherine Malandrino Gramercy Jacket ($795) is one I'd like to get out of my cart and into my hands ASAP. The fusion of leather and lace, and that delicately draped front, is divine.
Trend Alert: Sassy Sweats
I feel like it was only yesterday I was frustrated with celebrities who wore sweats while carrying their designer handbags — sorry, so not Fab. Luckily, those days are pretty much over, but with sassy sweats on the rise, I may have to accept the trend. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about some sassiness when walking Annabelle around the 'hood or going on a hike, but there's a time and a place. Sweatshirts can be an adorable ode to Jazzercise, case in point: Bosworth in her faded lavender Harlow sweatie running errands in LA. Denim shorts and quirky loafers prevent her from being too sloppy or '80s. Let's get physical, physical . . .
