In thigh-high, lace-up boots, gold jacket, and animal print, teenage model-of-the-moment Lindsey Wixson becomes Terry Richardson's high-fashion cowgirl for the June issue of Vogue Nippon. Outfitted in Cavalli, Miu Miu, and Givenchy, Lindsey plays the part of glamazon-gone-west well, posted up in among monuments and remnants, and eventually, sitting down to a big bowl of spaghetti. Click through to see the Wichita, KS, sweetheart get fierce in the wild, wild West.
Karolina Kurkova is on a roll these days. Not only is she frequenting the catwalks, she's also blowing up on the pages of magazines. Her latest gig is for this fashion editorial — titled "The Occasion Called for Elegance" — in the November Vogue Nippon. And who says the office can't be the occasion that calls for elegance? A little power suit with a twist. A black pump to elongate those limbs. A LBD that goes from day to night in a dash.
Blogger Overload: Tavi Styles Again, Rumi Models, and Tommy Ton Makes Fashion Editorial Debut in Vogue Nippon October 2010
>> Needless to say, bloggers are keeping busy. Today alone, Hanneli Mustaparta hosted the Fashion's Night Out livestream alongside Andre Leon Talley, and it was announced that Tavi Gevinson would be styling part of Alice + Olivia's Spring 2011 presentation and Rumi Neely will model in Rebecca Minkoff's Spring 2011 presentation.
Tommy Ton, meanwhile, who has built quite the rapport with Vogue Nippon's fashion director-at-large, Anna Dello Russo — she recently invited him to her country home for a photo session — has taken the relationship professional. Ton thanked Dello Russo via Twitter for giving him his first-ever fashion editorial, published in Vogue Nippon's October 2010 issue (Ton has previously done a set of portraits of Tavi for Vogue Paris). The editorial, "A Renaissance of Style," which is styled by Dello Russo's assistant Aurora Sansone, features Ton's signature street-style-inspired shots — with plenty of shoe and bag close-ups — of Suzanne Diaz and Tatiana Cotliar. Take a look at his editorial debut, below.
>> Rumor: Anna Dello Russo to W? —Rumors are running around men's fashion week in Milan that Stefano Tonchi may be recruiting Anna Dello Russo for W's fashion director position. Although Tonchi said last week that he "should be set" regarding layoffs at the magazine, he and Dello Russo are longtime friends; plus, current fashion director Alex White is the sole figure still in place on the top of W's masthead from the pre-Tonchi era. Daily Front Row argues, "Dello Russo essentially hires photographers and stylists for Japanese Vogue...which someone's gotta do at W, right? (Without [former creative director] Dennis Freedman, who had twenty-year-old relationships with A-list photogs like Michael Thompson, Mert & Marcus, and Bruce Weber, there's a real void in that category.)" Dree Hemingway shines in a Vogue Nippon beauty story with glowing skin and perfect plaits.
>> The Victoria's Secret Angels aren't just scoring spots in high fashion runways and campaigns these days — they're also becoming ubiquitous on Summer magazine covers. Just look at the covers that have rolled out in the past two days: Miranda Kerr, who scored a Summer i-D cover, is also GQ's June 2010 cover girl, as photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin; Alessandra Ambrosio was captured by Inez and Vinoodh (and styled by Anna Dello Russo) for the July 2010 cover of Vogue Nippon; and Doutzen Kroes takes Vogue Russia's June 2010 cover honors, as lensed by Terry Richardson.
I will never tire of Daria Werbowy's amazingness. For Vogue Nippon's November issue, the Ukrainian-Canadian model strutted her stuff in an editorial dubbed "Girl of the Golden Field." Now this is how Fall dressing should be: cozy sweaters, sherpa-lined leather jackets, ponchos, boots, and fur coats. Daria continues to astonish me with her scintillating bod — boobage alert! — and piercing blue eyes. Of course, her hair is tousled to perfection – Bella, how can I get this look? Furthermore, the prairie backdrop is beyond beautiful. Keep clicking for more Daria action . . .
>> INSIDER WIRE —Karl Lagerfeld seems to not only have developed a taste for Baptiste Giabiconi, but for photographing Baptiste Giabiconi in women's clothes. For the March 2009 issue of Vogue Paris, Karl snapped Baptiste in nothing but a Chanel tweed jacket, necklace, and heels; and for the July 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon, Karl photographed him in a Chanel couture jacket in one photo and hugging Anja Rubik in a Chanel couture gown in another. >> THE MODELIZER —Talk in the last week has centered on which model might be poised to give Raquel Zimmermann a run for a place on top of the heap — Lara Stone or Natasha Poly — but her Fall 2009 campaign run is shaping up well so far — she's shot Gucci and Jean Paul Gaultier, both with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Giorgio Armani with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Hermes with Eric Valli — all supposedly before she bleached her hair. Speaking of the new hair, the first editorial with it on display appears in the July 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon, captured by Mert and Marcus (above). [WeLoveModels, TFS]
