Just In: Joe Fresh and J.C. Penney Join Fashionable Forces

As part of its major revamp overhaul (including tapping Nina Garcia as its in-house style voice and fashion collection curator), J.C. Penney is following suit on the store-within-a-store concept, having just inked a deal with Canadian retailer Joe Fresh. The plan — which reminds us very much of the recent Topshop at Nordstrom rollout — is to open Joe Fresh shops in 683 J.C. Penney locations. Currently, Joe Fresh has six US spots, all within the New York and New Jersey area, which makes this latest development much more exciting and accessible for those of us who haven't been able to snag some of the Toronto-based retailer's affordable fashion pieces yet. While there's no set date for the two-in-one shopping to launch, we can expect it to be soon. "It's going to be exciting. It's bold. It's aggressive," said Joe Fresh founder Joseph Mimran. So, the question now remains, does this newly-emerging trend of a shop within a shop appeal to you? Could this be the future of brand collaborations?

Kate Moss Tapped For Rag & Bone's First-Ever Ad Campaign

Leave it to perpetually cool brand Rag & Bone to make a serious entrance across the pond.

Leave it to perpetually cool brand Rag & Bone to make a serious entrance across the pond. Not only are the British-bred designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright a day away from cutting the ribbon on their first European store in London's Chelsea neighborhood, they're also getting ready to launch Rag & Bone's first-ever ad campaign — starring Kate Moss, no less. Dressed in dark leather wares, hot pants, and fishnet stockings, Kate effortlessly embodies both the Rag & Bone boys' English heritage and the no-frill ethos they have meticulously cultivated since the line's inception in 2002. Wainwright added, "It was just them on a derelict London street — Kate with minimal makeup and Craig [McDean, the photographer] with a handheld camera and natural light." While tomorrow's UK store opening is certainly higher up on the current celebration docket, the brand's long-awaited campaign is set to appear in the September issues of Vogue, Vanity Fair, The Paris Review, and more. Are you excited to see Rag & Bone's Fall ads?

Lana Del Rey Is the New Face of H&M's Fall Campaign

No more speculation necessary: singer-slash-indie-muse Lana Del Rey will be the face of H&M's Fall 2012 ad campaign worldwide — with a second Winter campaign already in the works.

No more speculation necessary: singer-slash-indie-muse Lana Del Rey will be the face of H&M's Fall 2012 ad campaign worldwide — with a second Winter campaign already in the works. What can we expect from the forthcoming ads? "The mood is very LA noir," said Donald Schneider, the mass retailer's creative director. From the look of it, the spreads take serious cues from Lana's own signature retro-inspired style. We spy a pale pink angora-blend sweater and wax-coated jeans, which certainly prove Fall-worthy and a cool throwback to more nostalgic silhouettes. To top it all off, Lana recorded a cover of "Blue Velvet" for a minifilm that will be released on hm.com on Sept. 19. While this isn't the starlet's first foray into fashion territory — there's a Mulberry bag named after her and she's already graced the cover of British Vogue — it's her first modeling gig and not too shabby a start, at that. Are you excited to see how Lana's old-school vibe translates into H&M's Fall ads?

What Does Hedi Slimane's First Collection For Saint Laurent Paris Look Like?

Yves Saint Laurent — or Saint Laurent Paris, rather — has been presenting Hedi Slimane's Resort 2013 collection to buyers since late June, and so far, the people who have seen the garments called them "very tailored and sharp."

Yves Saint Laurent — or Saint Laurent Paris, rather — has been presenting Hedi Slimane's Resort 2013 collection to buyers since late June, and so far, the people who have seen the garments called them "very tailored and sharp." The collection is also said to be said to be "significantly more expensive than Stefano Pilati's era."

So, what's offered? There are reportedly "lots of silky, girly tops" as well as plenty of pinstripes, skinny jeans, hot pants, tuxedos, and cigarette pants. Colors range from black, white, and gray to red and fuschia, with sequins and animal prints, as well. Initial feedback to the collection was said to be "resoundingly positive."

Nevertheless, the house is definitely keeping Slimane's first two collections under wraps. In May, the house decided not to show women's Resort 2013 and men's Spring 2013 to the press so that the designer would be free to make his first big fashion statement for the house with his women's Spring 2013 collection during Paris Fashion Week. Buyers were also not allowed to take pictures during the Resort presentation, and the house didn't provide anyone with lookbooks.

On Thursday, WWD released some artistic renderings of the collection, but YSL was quick to point out that the drawings, which were penned by noted fashion illustrator Steven Stipelman, are not official representations of the collection.

"The sketches released in WWD dated July 4, 2012, do not represent YSL Cruise '13 Collection and obviously were not designed by Hedi Slimane," the brand tweeted . WWD has since removed the illustrations.
