Inez van Lamsweerde Works With One of Her Favorites, Daria Werbowy, for Yves Saint Laurent's Fall 2010 Campaign
>> There's little change in Yves Saint Laurent's usual campaign formula for Fall 2010 — supermodel shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin — but this time, the duo is working with Daria Werbowy, who van Lamsweerde recently named among her favorite models to work with, along with Raquel Zimmermann, Kate Moss, and Anja Rubik: "They all have this huge range. They’re mature, they’re grown up, they’re women who have had a life and experience. For about five or six years now we haven’t shot anyone under 18 for that reason, but also for the fact that we feel that the modeling business should not promote girls working under 18. They’re not out of school, their bodies aren’t developed yet, they don’t have a sense of self yet, sometimes they haven’t had sex yet. It’s hard to project all these things on someone who hasn’t had that experience."

Celeb Style: Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian was caught in the act at Menchie's Frozen Yogurt while boyfriend Scott Disick waited in the car. Style.com Reviewing Derek Blasberg For Covering an Event He Consulted On
>> After reports came out alleging that Style.com editor-at-large Derek Blasberg (who is also Harper's Bazaar editor-at-large and a V contributor) had received compensation for consulting on a Yves Saint Laurent party that he covered for Style.com last week, Eleanor Banco, spokeswoman for Style.com told Jezebel today: "We are reviewing this matter (referring to Derek Blasberg) internally. For the record, it is not our policy to assign writers to cover events if they are receiving any other financial remuneration in connection with that event and we have no further comment on the subject."
Blasberg conceded that he "had a conversation with a senior member of YSL Beauty's corporate office about social networking and building a buzz for the event" and worked with Alison Brod PR on the party's guest list. Before the event, a media alert was sent out asking party attendees "to tweet from the event with the hash tag #YSLparty." And at the event, an Yves Saint Laurent spokeswoman mentioned to the Wall Street Journal that Blasberg "helped start the 'Twitter party,' so to speak."
Trend Alert: Icy Neutral Accessories
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber radiated in their complementary hues at the Public Theater Gala in NYC. Liev donned a textured gray suit, while Naomi wore a white top and cropped baggy trousers by Stella McCartney. Notice how she adorned her casually elegant getup with icy neutral accessories via slate gray sandals and a muted copper clutch. Her accompaniments smartly elevate her look without disrupting her calm and cool color palette. What an icy hot duo.
Yves Saint Laurent Celebrates Revival of Opium With Alexa Chung, Alexandra Richards, and Maggie Gyllenhaal
YSL celebrated the launch of its new fragrance, Belle d'Opium, with a launch party in New York that brought out Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ashley Olsen, and Alexa Chung (who was on spinning duty along with Alexandra Richards). Celebrating the modern rendition of the original 1977 fragrance, the event featured a performance by French actress Melanie Thierry (who appears in the fragrance's TV spot) with atomizers spritzing the new scent into an IMAX-style theater stage. The very modern launch was complete with iPads available for guests to post comments on the Belle d'Opium's webpage. Photographer Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter was the evening's official photographer, snapping candid images that are now on the YSL Facebook page.

Fab Read: Yves Saint Laurent
There cannot be enough tributes to the late and great Yves Saint Laurent. Yves Saint Laurent ($55) is the first comprehensive retrospective on YSL. The designer's drawings, fabrics, models, and studios are all displayed on big glossy pages. The book also contains a full illustrated chronology, a portrait gallery of his muses — Loulou de la Falaise and Catherine Deneuve — and a new interview with his longtime partner Pierre Bergé. The color-inspired chapters are especially enticing, and the foreword by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is heartfelt.
