The sister duo behind the Aussie label Zimmermann — Nicky and Simone — have crafted a Summer '13 swimwear lineup defined by a dichotomous harmony. Impeccable sculptural technique and retro femininity are married within the frilled edges of sweetheart bustlines, dotted mesh bows are delicately adorned to triangle bikinis, and colorful floral prints have been artfully splashed across lightweight rompers, vintage one-piece silhouettes, and halter-neck sundresses. With the Australian countryside (natural sunlight, rolling hills, and babbling brooks all in the mix) as Zimmermann's lookbook backdrop, this is certainly the stuff our Summer dreams are made of. Spring is here — well, not quite yet — and we're more than excited to swap out our heavy Winter gear for lighter layers and pretty prints in anticipation. This month, we're transitioning into the new season with an array of colorful bags, dresses, and, of course, gorgeous sandals and jewels to polish it all off. Since the temperatures won't allow for that kind of wardrobe changeup, we'll live vicariously through the label's new In Concert collection lookbook (and hope for an early Spring). Thanks to designer Nicky Zimmermann's eye for beautiful prints, feminine cuts, and soft leather, we have a lot to look forward to. In fact, the mix of tomboy and boho — right down to the easy styling, finished with ankle boots and floppy hats — is the kind of carefree, cool-girl glamour you might employ on the concert circuit in just a few short months (Coachella, anyone?). With Spring's sporty trend in high tow, we've become completely obsessed with Shopbop and Zimmermann's cool, and somewhat genius, capsule collection of rash guard tops. When it couldn't find any fashionable rash guards in sight, Shopbop enlisted Aussie swimwear brand Zimmermann to help create this amazing capsule collection, priced from $185 to $195, featuring pretty rose prints, bold colorblocking, and artsy mixed patterns. The tops are perfect for stylish surfers, but they can easily go from the beach to city, which we predict will be the likely case with most of us. We love the idea of pairing one with a black neoprene skirt and a sleek pair of platform sandals for a sport-chic Summer ensemble, or pair it with denim cutoffs and strappy flats for an effortless day at the park. Crochet can get sold short; for some, it conjures up memories of hippie-chic style icons like Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, and for others, it can be a reminder of our Grandma's favorite pastime. Modeled by Missy Rayder, the lookbook references easy '70s bohemian chic via flowy dresses and skirts, and channels the brand's own classic blend of sweet and provocative.
