Spring is here — well, not quite yet — and we're more than excited to swap out our heavy Winter gear for lighter layers and pretty prints in anticipation. This month, we're transitioning into the new season with an array of colorful bags, dresses, and, of course, gorgeous sandals and jewels to polish it all off. Additionally, we found the perfect pair of cool shades to block out those harmful UV rays and an adorable floral-print baseball cap to stylishly hide those occasional bad hair days. A first glimpse of Zimmermann's Spring '13 lineup is almost enough to make us ditch our Winter coats and reach for one of the collection's breezy printed dresses — almost. Since the temperatures won't allow for that kind of wardrobe changeup, we'll live vicariously through the label's new In Concert collection lookbook (and hope for an early Spring). Thanks to designer Nicky Zimmermann's eye for beautiful prints, feminine cuts, and soft leather, we have a lot to look forward to. In fact, the mix of tomboy and boho — right down to the easy styling, finished with ankle boots and floppy hats — is the kind of carefree, cool-girl glamour you might employ on the concert circuit in just a few short months (Coachella, anyone?). Though some of it might be just as well suited to your dressier events, like a polished shorts suit, floral sheaths, or even this sheer little number if you're looking to channel Lea Michele's sexy red-carpet appearance. Flip through every awesome look right here — then get ready to shop when the collection debuts Feb. 4.
With Spring's sporty trend in high tow, we've become completely obsessed with Shopbop and Zimmermann's cool, and somewhat genius, capsule collection of rash guard tops. When it couldn't find any fashionable rash guards in sight, Shopbop enlisted Aussie swimwear brand Zimmermann to help create this amazing capsule collection, priced from $185 to $195, featuring pretty rose prints, bold colorblocking, and artsy mixed patterns. The tops are perfect for stylish surfers, but they can easily go from the beach to city, which we predict will be the likely case with most of us. We love the idea of pairing one with a black neoprene skirt and a sleek pair of platform sandals for a sport-chic Summer ensemble, or pair it with denim cutoffs and strappy flats for an effortless day at the park. When it's cold outside, we can't help but to start thinking about a Winter getaway, and what better way to get excited for one than with Zimmermann's Summer '12 lookbook. Believe us, the array of printed floral maxis, bikinis, eyelet coverups, and sexy one-piece bathing suits are sure to make you think twice about eating that second slice of pie. Want to see more? Rose Byrne recently hosted a sunset reception to celebrate Zimmermann's 2012 resort collection, and managed to look effortlessly gorgeous despite the balmy LA weather. "It was an outdoor event and it seemed right to go with a fun lip color; not too much on the eye, a sun-kissed cheek, and a bright, happy coral lip," said makeup artist Fiona Stiles, who created the look. So to see the products Stiles used, along with her tips on how to copy Rose's nonfussy, sweat-proof palette, just keep reading.
Crochet can get sold short; for some, it conjures up memories of hippie-chic style icons like Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, and for others, it can be a reminder of our Grandma's favorite pastime. Though it may have folksy connotations, crochet doesn't have to be a total blast from the past. Case in point: Rose Byrne — she recently hosted Zimmermann's Resort collection dinner wearing the designers' super sweet knee-length dress with gorgeous crochet detailing at the neck, and an almost patchwork crochet design throughout. You can also glean inspiration from the Alexander McQueen Resort collection, and Spring '11 offerings from Malandrino; both lines infused artful crocheting into their looks, bringing an easy, bohemian sensibility to the sometimes-intimidating fabrication. Oooh, how bittersweet it is. It seems like yesterday we were drooling over Aussie brand Zimmermann's swim 2011 lookbook; now it's time to drool anew at Zimmermann's Fall 2011 lookbook. Modeled by Missy Rayder, the lookbook references easy '70s bohemian chic via flowy dresses and skirts, and channels the brand's own classic blend of sweet and provocative. Zimmermann always has that special piece, and we particularly love the soft florals and fringe skirt. Click the slideshow to see our picks for Zimmermann's best Fall 2011 looks.
