When it comes to Alice Ritter, Fab is a big fan but I'd wager that I'm even more into the French-born designer's chic clothing.

When it comes to Alice Ritter, Fab is a big fan but I'd wager that I'm even more into the French-born designer's chic clothing. At yesterday's presentation, she showed off high-waisted trousers, a subtly ruffled violet dress that I'm dying to buy, and other Gallic-girl ensembles.

Lead hair stylist Takamichi was inspired by easygoing French hairstyles of the '60s and '70s—think Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot, or women in films by Godard or Truffaut. "Everything is down, and it's quite natural," he explained. "It's like you see in the movies of the '60s: Very natural, straight down. It's quite simple."

And if you like the makeup, hold tight. I spoke with James Boehmer, the Nars makeup artist who created the look, and I'll have more detailed information for you soon!

Random Update of The Moment: Backstage At Alice Ritter

We're backstage at Alice Ritter's show right now.

We're backstage at Alice Ritter's show right now. Madness ensues. Elle magazine is having a 'models like to hang' pre-show photo shoot down here with a bunch of rock and roll chicks, namely Au Revoir Simone and the like. In other words, a long-hair gamines are lazing about in trousers and silk blouses while the rest of us swirl around them like maniacs, charging batteries and whatnot. Random sound bite we just picked up from the couch, model says, "So, do you cut your own hair", to which the short haired rock chick replies, "uh, yeah".

Designer Spotlight

Designer Spotlight: Alice Ritter

For Alice Ritter, a Parisian designer who defected to New York almost ten years ago, every day is a great day to be a girl.

For Alice Ritter, a Parisian designer who defected to New York almost ten years ago, every day is a great day to be a girl. Her clothes have a very romanticized feminine element to them - lots of flounce, and an almost dreamy retro quality.

I haven't met her in person, but I have seen a couple of her shows in New York. When I was backstage at one of them, I saw her getting interviewed and she was absolutely adorable with her little French accent. In any case, if you are very into the retro-modern look, definitely check Alice Ritter out - especially because Intermix is having a sale on Alice Ritter's Spring collection, $189-$460, right now! The collection is also available at La Garconne, $325-$748.
