Since we've had our hurrah with ripped jeans, let's embrace a new kind of denim in 2010. Might I suggest patched up jeans, a la Chanel's Spring '10 line? This funky look is all about DIY-inspired patches, skinny cuts, and bad-to-the-bone attitude. Do you have it? If so, revel in your inner hippie hipster with these rad Gap Real Straight Patch Jeans ($80) for an authentically distressed vibe.

Trend Alert: Two-Toned Fringe

The Avatar premiere in LA brought out a bevy of beauties, but one star in particular caught my attention: Zoe Saldana.

The Avatar premiere in LA brought out a bevy of beauties, but one star in particular caught my attention: Zoe Saldana. The actress pulled off yet another astronomical look in a strapless Versace dress and Brian Atwood pumps. Peep the cool two-toned fringe on her frock. It's far different from the per usual solid fringe and adds a cool textural effect. Try it in a solid pattern like Zoe, or test out a dip-dye motif for something extra groovy.

The Look For Less: Brochu Walker Cable Wrap Vest

Menswear vests are still in, but now is the ideal time to cozy up to a cable-knit sweater vest.
Brochu Walker at ShopStyle

Menswear vests are still in, but now is the ideal time to cozy up to a cable-knit sweater vest. It whispers Fall, and keeps you warm enough without suffocating. You can wear it over a tank to show off your arms or a long-sleeve tee when it gets super chilly. This Brochu Walker Cable Wrap Sweater Vest ($385) is blissful and beautiful, but I'm not paying that much for a vest. Movin' on . . .

Trend Alert: Cat Print Minis

Sigh, I will never tire of Miranda Kerr's cuteness.

Sigh, I will never tire of Miranda Kerr's cuteness. In addition to being one of Victoria's Secret's top models, the natural beauty is also a master at casual cool styling. While running errands in her native hometown of Sydney, Australia, she cranked up the fashion factor by pairing a blazer and tee with a vivacious cat print mini. Genius. These savage minis — whether lush leopard, cheetah, or tiger prints — add the ideal dose of animal instinct, and look best paired with loose casual tops. Just look at Miranda for inspiration; you know I will.

A Fabby Halloween: Flashdance Fever

Who can forget Jennifer Beals's sexy moves in '80s cult classic Flashdance — remember that water scene?

Who can forget Jennifer Beals's sexy moves in '80s cult classic Flashdance — remember that water scene? Sizzle. She alone might have been responsible for the flurry of females dashing to get themselves an oversize sweatshirt and leggings — I know I sure did. Hone in her ultra-old-school vibe with the right accessories: red pointy-toe heels, a bodysuit, leg warmers, dangly earrings, and a permed '80s hairdo. What a feeling!

Trend Alert: Ruffly Sandals

Ruffly sandals have taken our feet by storm with their ultra girly statement.
Pour La Victoire at ShopStyle

Ruffly sandals have taken our feet by storm with their ultra girly statement. They're the perfect way to incorporate sweet interest to your bubble toes and look great with cutoff shorts or a simple skirt. I'm a fan of the texture and depth, but they're a little too feminine for my taste. No worries, I can just nab a pair, like this Pour La Victoire Ella Zip Ruffle Sandal ($225), that tones down the froufrou with a badass zipper detailing. See, there's something for everyone.

Cheap & Chic: Flashy Pink Mini

I've long loved the combination of black and pink, so when I saw Taylor Momsen at the Topshop US opening party, my eyes widened.

I've long loved the combination of black and pink, so when I saw Taylor Momsen at the Topshop US opening party, my eyes widened. Let's recognize that if it weren't for her hot pink tiered miniskirt, her look wouldn't be as captivating. It lends femininity to her tough leather motorcycle jacket but maintains the spunky vibe. Hot pink lipstick adds further kick. Get in on the flashy pink fun with your very own miniskirt.

I Want This Wardrobe: Gossip Girl, Jenny Humphrey

It might be hard to believe with her stealth sense of style, but Jenny Humprey's a Spring chicken.

It might be hard to believe with her stealth sense of style, but Jenny Humprey's a Spring chicken. In fact, she just turned 16 on the latest episode of Gossip Girl. Sadly, Jenny's sweet 16 didn't pan out like she hoped but at least she got a shimmery gold Missoni trapeze dress — gifted from Serena — out of the situation. Leave it to Jenny to add a downtown vibe to her girly frock by styling it with a motorcycle jacket, hoodie, and opaque tights. Red patent peep-toe pumps add sexy while gold and crystal earrings and leather and chain bracelets show off her funky attitude. Go Jenny, it's your birthday . . .

March Shopping Madness! Lighten Your Jeans

I've lightened my jeans, have you?
J Brand at ShopStyle

I've lightened my jeans, have you? If not, get to steppin'. I made the switch when I saw Kate Bosworth in these J Brand 912 Thrasher Ripped Jeans ($218). Super cool, right? Love the bleaching effect. The look is total '80s but, like Kate, you can make it as modern as you like. I didn't fork over that amount for the J Brands but I found a similar, less expensive pair I love. With Spring on the horizon, there is no better time to lighten your jeans.
