The Cannes Film Festival isn't complete until amfAR's annual Cinema Against AIDS gala goes down. And right now, we're mesmerized by some seriously gorgeous red carpet ensembles that rival those from the week's biggest movie premieres. Fashion's boldest names turned out the strongest looks, including Joan Smalls in a pseudo minidress, Karlie Kloss in a chic, tailored suit, and Anna Dello Russo in gam-flashing ruffles. No attendees disappointed, though, making for one very glamorous affair. Click through to see who's wearing what at the 2013 amfAR benefit.

This Week's Best Dressed

Between the Academy Awards nominee events in Los Angeles, BAFTA parties in London, the amfAR gala in New York, and a frenzy of Fashion Week kickoff events, there were certainly plenty of opportunities for the style set to shine this week.

Between the Academy Awards nominee events in Los Angeles, BAFTA parties in London, the amfAR gala in New York, and a frenzy of Fashion Week kickoff events, there were certainly plenty of opportunities for the style set to shine this week. And, boy, did they.

At the amfAR gala, it was all about supermodels in superdresses. Doutzen Kroes went for pleated pink J. Mendel, while Crystal Renn opted for sculptural Zac Posen. Lily Donaldson, Alana Bunte, and Hilary Rhoda all stunned in black, while Toni Garrn was a vision in Winter white Emilio Pucci.

Over in Los Angeles, Jessica Chastain and Naomi Watts were the picture of sweet chic in lace dresses at the Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon; Chastain wore Resort 2013 floral Erdem, while Watts kept it monochrome in all-black Valentino.

A peek at all those looks — plus all the gorgeousness from the Prabal Gurung for Target shopping party, the Marni fragrance launch, and much, much more — here in our weekly best-dressed slideshow.

Many fashionable Hollywood celebrities turned up the glamour at last night's amfAR Gala at NYC's Cipriani 42nd Street. The event, which helps kick off New York Fashion Week, was full of designers and celebs in stylish gowns. Ashley Greene wore a white Giambattista Valli frock while Sarah Jessica Parker went for a daring Maison Martin Margiela Couture pink dress. Honoree Heidi Klum donned a black Michael Kors number, which she wore when she chatted with the designer and her former Project Runway costar on the red carpet.

Other guests included Cheyenne Jackson, Chloë Sevigny, couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, who dazzled in a dramatic Zac Posen gown. Of course, the night wasn't only about fashion — the amfAR Gala benefits AIDS research and honors those who have made significant contributions towards the fight against the deadly disease. In addition to Heidi, designer Kenneth Cole and Janet Jackson were honored for their work with the organization.

Sarah Jessica Parker walked the red carpet for the amfAR New York Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, NY, tonight.

Sarah Jessica Parker walked the red carpet for the amfAR New York Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan, NY, tonight. She wore a strapless pink Maison Martin Margiela dress for the event, which also helps kick off the official start of New York Fashion Week. Sarah Jessica was on hand to honor her friend Kenneth Cole for his contributions to the fight against AIDS. She spoke onstage and presented the designer with an award before chatting with Michael Strahan at her table.

Sarah Jessica is also tapping into her fashion design skills for a good cause. She recently teamed up with Kenneth to create a collection of limited-edition handbags to support AIDS research. One of the snakeskin clutches was auctioned off at tonight's event, and the rest will make their runway debut at the Kenneth Cole fashion show on Feb. 7, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to amfAR.

amfAR Gala Trendspotting: Tuxedo-Inspired Silhouettes

A slick tuxedo-inspired silhouette can instantly add structure, sex appeal, and an empowered sense of glamour to any red-carpet ensemble.

A slick tuxedo-inspired silhouette can instantly add structure, sex appeal, and an empowered sense of glamour to any red-carpet ensemble. At last night's amfAR New York gala, we spotted five star-studded examples of the menswear-friendly style. Model Joan Smalls suited up in a lapel-infused floor-length gown, complete with a peplum pop at the waist; singer Janelle Monáe opted for a more traditional tuxedo blazer over a black wide-leg jumpsuit; and model Liya Kebede stunned in a sportier version of the tailored trend by wearing slouchy tuxedo pants with a silky blouse. Whether you take a more literal approach to the trademark tuxedo staples (read: blazers, lapels, pantsuits) or interpret the look with a more feminine twist (think soft dress shirts and peplum details), we think it provides a superchic finish. Click through to see how celebs worked the trend and shop your favorites at the end of the slideshow.

The Price of Anja Rubik's Jeweled Heels

Anja Rubik donned a playful, feather-covered Pucci minidress and hot pink bejeweled heels for the amfAR Gala in Cannes yesterday. While the outfit looks like an innocent — and very fun — party outfit, it's actually a seriously expensive endeavor: Chopard and Guiseppe Zanotti partnered to create Anja's shoes, which were covered with $180,000 worth of jewels. The heels, boasting diamonds, pink sapphires, rubies, and russellites, were auctioned off for $200,000 at the Gala. While we're not sure what Anja wore after her shoes were sold to the highest bidder, we're optimistic the leggy model still looked party-ready.

Jessica Stam, Lily Donaldson Help AmfAR Launch the Fashion Week Storm

>> Last night, editors and models alike gathered at Cipriani to simultaneously launch Fashion Week — officially — and benefit one of fashion's favorite causes: AIDS research foundation amfAR. Anna Wintour presented and Donna Karan received an award for her contribution to amfAR's mission; Lara Stone, Caroline Winberg, Jessica Stam, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Lily Donaldson, and Anja Rubik (with boyfriend Sasha Knezevic) all got gussied up and came along for the ride. Afterward, there was a mass migration to Rose Bar, where they were joined by Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Giovanna Battaglia for a little enjoyment of the calm before the storm.
