Naturalist-Inspired Spring Mantel

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member stephaniepoli from the Su Casa group:

I frequently refresh the decor around my house. I'm getting ready for Spring with this naturalist-inspired mantel. The butterflies are vintage illustrations that I printed on card stock, and I collected the pine cone on a nature walk around the neighborhood. I created an easy bell jar by simply flipping over a glass.

I sketched this little feather illustration and framed in a shadowbox. Keep reading for a shot of the full mantel and the rest of my living room

Love It or Hate It? Serena van der Woodsen's Butterfly Wall Décor

This season on Gossip Girl, Blair graciously has a room decorated in her home for her BFF Serena, who's been somewhat shooed out of her family's apartment.

This season on Gossip Girl, Blair graciously has a room decorated in her home for her BFF Serena, who's been somewhat shooed out of her family's apartment. While Serena's new bedroom at Blair's is quite neutral with grass cloth walls and soft apple green upholstery, the focal point is a statement-making arrangement of black butterflies on the wall behind her bed. It looks familiar to me so maybe it's available for sale, but I have a feeling it's an artist's sculpture piece. In any case, do you love it? Would you like to have it in your own home?

Look of the Day: Butterfly Wishes

As the sun shines brighter, my warm-weather dressing dilemma grows: how to look stylish with as little clothing as possible?

As the sun shines brighter, my warm-weather dressing dilemma grows: how to look stylish with as little clothing as possible? Fab reader Lynzy has mastered this effortlessly. Her sweet butterfly wishes ensemble is incredibly unique and so not fussy. I'm crushing on everything from the breezy shorts, to the white wedges, to her crossbody bag.

Congrats to Lynzy!

Everyone else, submit your looks, and I might feature you on FabSugar!

Celeb Style: Hilary Duff

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: pants are underutilized in this world.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: pants are underutilized in this world. Hilary Duff wore the perfect flirty, yet polished getup to a Shipley & Halmos event at Confederacy in LA. Her Patterson J. Kincaid butterfly tank is whimsical, while her wide-leg pants are classic. Nature-inspired jewelry, a knockout black Hermes Birkin, and cool yellow nail polish complete the lusty love child.

Inspired: The Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum

The Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London is a new $78 million scientific research and collections facility that opens to the public on Sept.

The Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London is a new $78 million scientific research and collections facility that opens to the public on Sept. 15, 2009. In this photo, a projection of butterflies shows on the hand of an employee. Besides the butterfly projection, the museum also houses a collection of 17 million insect and three million plant specimens. Inspired by the butterfly projection, I decided to see what other fluttery creatures the home lepidopterologist might love to add to her house.
For an absolutely magical addition to your garden, consider this Neiman Marcus Butterfly Bench ($2,500). Made of steel with a galvanized zinc and epoxy finish, it will stand up to the elements, as well as any little girls that are eager to climb aboard this fanciful, fluttering bench.

Mariposa at ShopStyle

A was for apples and b is for butterflies. Transform a tot's room into a magical wonderland by hanging a cluster of white festive flutter with a voluminous chandelier. Pepper the space with winged accessories like frames, step stools, or removable wall decals. For a modest hint of the whimsical friends, tuck baby away in butterfly sheets or allow the airborne fellas to peek out the window with a set of curtains or a valence. Whatever accent one chooses, baby is sure to enjoy the "B"eautiful decor. Check back to see what "C" has in store!

Steal of the Day: Mixko Delight Belle Light

I don't know what it is about butterflies lately, but they've had my heart all aflutter.

I don't know what it is about butterflies lately, but they've had my heart all aflutter. The cutout butterflies on the Mixko Delight Belle Light ($49, reduced from $83) are quite dainty and appeal to the side of me that secretly loves pink, unicorns, and party dresses. And I love how the light just seems to peek through its skirted edge. I also don't think I've ever seen a felt lamp shade before . . . people seem to use whatever they can get their hands on these days (kitchen canisters, Tupperware, vellum). No, I don't think my husband would be a fan of this Lepidopteran light, but it would be quite cute in a girl's bedroom or a feminine powder room.
