Lil Community: How to Dress a Boy in Girls' Clothing and Still Have Him Look Like a Boy

Moms love to show off their tots and Elka Karl is one of them.
Dressing a Baby Boy in Girls' Clothes

Moms love to show off their tots and Elka Karl is one of them. Here's a fun post she added to our Sugarbabies group in the LilSugar Community.

While I tend to parent in a mostly gender neutral way, I still get a bit annoyed when I have to correct people when they call my son "she" or tell him he's "so pretty." I think it's mostly the polite Midwesterner in me that hates correcting people. That said, I couldn't not buy something from the Calypso St. Barth For Target line for my son . . . except all of the kids' clothes were girls' clothes. Undeterred, I found a way to make this Toddler Tunic ($13) work for my son. We tested it out on a day in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and I was pleased to note that only one out of about 10 passersby called him a girl (and I blame that on his cute curls).

Taking a Closer Look at Target's Calypso St. Barth Line

Last night, I stopped by my nearest Target store to take a peek at what items from the Calypso St. Barth line the store had in stock.

Last night, I stopped by my nearest Target store to take a peek at what items from the Calypso St. Barth line the store had in stock. While the women's and children's clothing sections were chock-full of lovely frocks and breezy accessories, the home section was sadly lacking, relegated to a single end aisle of products. Undeterred, I quickly determined that the Glass Votives ($3 each) were the best match for my home. I was pleasantly surprised by the thickness of the glass, especially considering the low price point. The quality of the etching was also high, and each glass is lined with silver. When lit, the votives produce a muted, lovely light. All in all, I'm quite pleased with my first purchase from the line. Have you bought anything from the line yet? What was it? How do you like it?
