You don't have to be Batman or Robin to pull off the caped crusader look; in fact, it looks even better in real-life. While the silhouette's not exactly new, it can pose a bit of a challenge as it's overlooked in favor of simpler coat shapes. But don't fear — we're here to help you decode the cape coat with five fresh ways to style it right. It's more versatile than you think — and the proof is all inside. Sometimes you see a collection at fashion week and then accidently forget all about when the season comes around. We found ourselves checking out Brian Reyes's Fall 08 deliveries today and remembered how much we liked his collection in the first place! Whether it's a cocktail dress, a staple cardigan, a luxurious camisole, or an outerwear piece-Brian Reyes has consistently offered investment-worthy designs to young, refined women. If you're a fan of the cape/cloak trend that's been building over the last few seasons, you'll love Lindsey Thornburg's collection. Namely, for giving us the option to still wear a cloak in the summertime. These super soft, wool cloaks lack the tailoring of a proper winter garment (not that you couldn't cuddle into one when it's freezing) and so can be worn year round. In addition to their versatile tailoring, the cloaks also come in vibrant prints, like 'Tex Mex', that are cut-off-shorts-and-sandals appropriate. The prints were inspired by a trip to Machu Picchu, where Thornburg noticed "the versatility of the Highlanders attire". With cloaks in three different styles, each offered in six different wool prints, we think Thornburg did a great job manifesting that inspiration for her stateside clients.
Here's what she has on:
- Jacket: MK2K
- Jeans: Hollister
- Boots: Unknown
