Karolina Kurkova knows how to stun on the red carpet — it kind of comes with the territory of being a gorgeous leggy model — but her appearance at last night's Prix Montblanc in Berlin actually rendered us speechless. And if we're being completely honest, her creamy beige Carlos Miele Spring '13 gown inspired our current hunt for the perfect Fall wedding dress, too. We love that she paired the satin bodice-meets-flowing chiffon skirt silhouette with a darker wine-colored lip and smoky eye. It struck us as autumnal-themed, moody, and romantic, to say the least. And as a whole, it just worked. As we see more and more starlets donning nontraditional wedding dresses for their big day (Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway certainly come to mind), it seems only appropriate that we include this particularly gorgeous look in this burgeoning, slightly off-the-cuff trend. If you're as taken with this potential wedding dress option as we are — or see it as a potential scene-stealing holiday party option — we think a cream-colored Mongolian fur cropped jacket and a vintage-inspired veil would top it off perfectly. For now, get an all-angles look inside, then let us know how you would style this beautiful Carlos Miele gown.
We've had red-carpet looks on the brain here for, oh, ever, so we paid special attention to the gorgeous gowns coming down the runway at New York Fashion Week. There were florals, lace, flowy chiffon numbers, lots of red, and plenty of sparkle from our favorite designers, including Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, and Monique Lhuillier. Here are the top 25 most drop-dead gorgeous dresses of the week — and the ones we're hoping to see on the Oscars red carpet!
Fashion Week is coming into its eventful final shows, and it seems like the keywords for today's looks were "vintage pretty." We saw lots of styles inspired by Old Hollywood, slicked-back flapper hair, and even a touch of '60s techniques. It's all eminently covetable, so take a look.
Can you believe that Fashion Week is halfway over? The last few days have shown us some truly beautiful new looks that we're really excited about, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store. We've gathered 15 of the most outstanding, so be sure to check out the preview of what's to come in 2011.
New York Fashion Week ended last week, and now it's time to analyze the styles, from hair to makeup to what polishes we foresee flying off the shelves come March. To make the myriad styles we saw over the nine days of 2010 Spring New York Fashion Week easier to parse, I've assembled the six big trends, complete with several different ways to wear each — from rebel rocker to demure debutante. Click through for the definitive looks for Spring.
The last couple of days have been some of the most experimental of the week. If you've seen the makeup and hair at Marc Jacobs's runway show you know what I'm talking about. While I'm excited to see designers innovating, I'd also like to showcase looks that are achievable without a team of brilliant makeup artists present. So along with the big, cool-to-look-at shows, I've put together some of the prettiest, most accessible looks from the last couple of days. Click through and see for yourself. (And in case you missed them the first time around, be sure to check out my favorites from days one and two and days three through five.)
Unleash your inner adolescence this Spring with colors from the blue lagoon. These ocean-inspired hues give off the perfect breezy, carefree vibe. Kristen Bell knows what's up. Check her out looking like a modern-day mermaid in a tiered Carlos Miele frock. There's a ton of hues to choose from so dabble around. Personally, I'm a turquoise gal, but cobalt blue comes in as a close second.
>> INSIDER WIRE —A little Fashion Week Roitfeld update: Carine Roitfeld supposedly landed Saturday night, and has since been spotted front row at Diane von Furstenberg yesterday (along with DVF face Natalia Vodianova, who brought her kids) and Carlos Miele this morning. Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, meanwhile — who broke up with boyfriend Magnus Berger right before the holidays — is mobile blogging for Dazed & Confused this week, along with Susie Bubble.
