Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to one-up himself with his latest Chanel 2012-2013 Cruise collection. With Versailles's legendary garden fountains on blast, pastel-bob-topped models, including Lindsey Wixson and Joan Smalls, showed off the designer's opulent Summer-ready wares this afternoon. Need a visual? Think Marie Antoinette goes to the beach meets Spring's softest, dustiest pinks, blues, and greens. Now, apply that pretty palette to rich brocade-infused one-piece swimsuits, floral-sleeve frocks, gold-embroidered denim vests, and sheer ruffled skirts, and you've got today's playful-cum-garden-party Cruise lineup in a nutshell. It's a collection that strikes a fun balance between Louis XVI-era costume design and a decidedly 21st century sensibility. Are you ready to see it up close? FABTV: Chanel Cruise 2008
If you enjoyed all of our recent Chanel cruise collection coverage check out this Chanel video courtesy of our friends over at Chanel! Yes, we have friends over there at the Holy Grail of fashion. Here's an inside look at the super star studded event that took place at the Santa Monica airport last Friday.
Some of my highlights:
- A fun, and oh so true quote from the master himself: "...It's all about perfect traveling and a private jet is a part of perfect traveling if you ask me."
- A insightful quote from Ali Larter, winner of Battle of the Chanel: Lohan vs. Larter: "...it's the creme de la creme...every girl wants to own a piece...I just think that when you put it on you feel as beautiful as you can be."
- The runway door opens, the Chanel Line rolls in, and hello Chanel cruise!
Battle of the Chanel: Lohan vs. Larter
Our last Chanel battle is a battle of bodacious blondes. Lindsay looks like a Chanel poster girl with her confidence, bubble hem and bad ass Chanel glovies. Ali looks sexy and sophisticated in her body-hugging high-waisted black skirt and layered necklaces. I can't decide so please do it for me! Who will win the final battle of the Chanel?!

Battle of the Chanel: Mendes vs. Alba
Ooh, this is kind of a tough one. I really like the color nude and Alba's frock is so sweet; but Mendes' white blouse and black skirt is so ladylike and the fit is perfect. Here's what gives Eva my vote: those black tights on Alba. I really don't think she needs them; those black Mary Jane's are all that's necessary to top off her look. I am really digging her 40s-inspired hair do though! Thoughts?

Battle of the Chanel: Harmon vs. Moore
Don't Angie and Demi sort of resemble one another with their wavy dark hair, olive skin and black-and-white Chanel ensembles? There's no doubt these two ladies look classy and beautiful, but I'd rather sport Demi's white dress and checkered jacket over Angie's black tulle skirt and white tank. Demi's outfit is more flattering and chic. Do you agree?

Battle of the Chanel: Olsen vs. Olsen
Here we have both of the enigmatic Olsen twins fully decked in Chanel. To me, there is a clear winner: Ashley (right). I love the peekaboo effect of being buttoned up and swimming in two-tone chains on top and showing off perfect legs on bottom. And those shoes? Fierce. As for Mary-Kate (left), she's swimming in her Chanel, not that I wouldn't mind swimming in Chanel, but you know what I mean. Oh but I love her little black-and-white spiral clutch! Which blonde twin has the most fab Chanel ensemble?

Cruise 2008: Chanel
The Chanel Line has taken off and boy do I wish I were in flight. Karl presented a youthful Resort collection of colorful Chanel duds to the top of female Hollywood society and it looks like there is plenty to go around.
A mix of satin, stripes, sequins, tweed and denim gave way to a sometimes utilitarian sometimes completely feminine collection. I love it when Karl uses color and his reds, blues and purples were fun and made nautical desirable all over again. Silhouettes were flowy and light and ready to take flight. There was either a lot of leg via mini skirts or a long strong female via wide-legged pants. All of this with layered chains and pearls, peep-toe boots and ultra-cool Chanel glovies will surely keep the jet set happy.
