NARS Taps Daphne Guinness as Its Fall Face

Perhaps you own a lipstick, eye shadow, or nail polish that happens to share your name, but how would you like to be the direct inspiration behind a beauty product?

Perhaps you own a lipstick, eye shadow, or nail polish that happens to share your name, but how would you like to be the direct inspiration behind a beauty product? That's exactly the case for heiress Daphne Guinness, who has inspired a new eye shadow shade ($23) that will be named after her. The deep royal purple shade will be available July 15 and will be featured as part of the brand's Fall collection. (We've had a peek, and it's gorgeous.)

Daphne's not the first celebrity to inspire a color. Polly Blitzer had a shade of Essie nail polish, Just Say Fiancée, made for her wedding. Back when Jeanne Lobell owned Stila, she created Natalie lipstick ($17) — as in Natalie Portman. If you had a cosmetic named for you, what would you want it to be?

And no one can ever tell the difference. That’s the point.” Guinness, who works out "all the time," was then asked what she wears to the gym: “Not diamonds. Normal stuff. A Rick Owens white T-shirt and black leggings. I’m not high-maintenance. When I think my hair needs a bit of help, I just glue another bit on to my head.” [Times UK]

The congregation spent around an hour inside St. Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, west London, before the coffin, laden with pink, white and red roses, was carried out by four pallbearers and loaded into a waiting hearse with "Lee" in white flowers on the back. The hearse drove off, followed by two black stretch Jaguars carrying McQueen's family. One mourner said of the funeral: "It was a lovely service."

A memorial service open to friends and supporters will take place later this year, although no date or venue has been confirmed, she told WWD. “We are focusing right now on the Paris show," she noted, which will be by invitation in a "private salon" format on March 9 and 10 at an undisclosed location.

Interview Keeps the 40th Anniversary Celebration Going with a Little Subbasement Revelry

>> Two floors below the ground level entrance to the Hudson Hotel, Interview celebrated its 40th anniversary last night by christening Good Units, the hotel's new club.  The space still had remnants of its past life as a 1930s YMCA — wooden bleachers sat in the middle of the main room, providing seating for the likes of Subversive Jewelry's Justin Giunta and Edita Vilkeviciute — and above, where the room's indoor track used to be, party-goers got an eagle's eye view of the dancing going on below.  Archival Interview covers and graffiti by Brian Ermanski on the room's four walls gave the party a '90s vibe.

The crowd was teeming with notables, ready to kick-start Fashion Week.  Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock and Shipley and Halmos's Jeff Halmos found a less crowded corner near the bar to chat by while Halmos's design partner Sam Shipley fetched drinks.  Becka Diamond and Keegan Singh, arms linked, navigated the crowd and later, Singh's boyfriend Eddie Borgo appeared. Giovanna Battaglia, in a red and black leopard-print minidress, grooved to the music, while Derek Blasberg and Kate Bosworth, nearby, animatedly broke it down before scurrying off into the crowd.  Mary-Kate Olsen, who's gearing up for her first The Row presentation, as styled by Marie-Amelie Sauve, and Chloe Sevigny both chatted with Lazaro Hernandez.  A dark-haired Martin Cohn teetered in those Nina Ricci platform heels. And Dasha Zhukova, fresh off the purchase of a $19.5 million home in Los Angeles last month, flitted by in an emerald fitted coat.  All in all, not a bad way to start out the week.

>> Daphne Guinness, who has experienced an increase in industry attention this year between her Comme des Garcons-backed perfume and her tendency to wear the unwearable shoe — from Alexander McQueen and Nina Ricci under Olivier Theyskens, in particular, has traded in her iconic skunk-striped hair for a new look.  When she flew in to Miami from London for Art Basel, she debuted an all-black coif, causing many, apparently, to not recognize her.

She joined beau Andre Balazs at the festivities, and later close friend and photographer David LaChapelle, with whom she presented "an incredibly elaborate advertising campaign for Maybach, the Mercedes-Benz line of uber-luxury cars, in front of both the company’s German executives and an Art Basel audience," according to Stefano Tonchi. Afterward, they dove into the hotel swimming pool, LaChapelle in only his underwear, and Daphne in couture, coif, diamonds, and all.
