Eley Kishimoto and Incase Go Bold For Apple

It seems that London is getting the best of what Incase has to offer lately.

It seems that London is getting the best of what Incase has to offer lately. First the new Apple store in Covent Garden gets a new set of fab exclusive cases to cover your Apple gadgets, and now the latest designer to partner up with Incase, Eley Kishimoto, will launch these amazing graphic cases at the upcoming London Fashion Week.

The cases, which are fit for your 13-inch Macbook Pros, iPads, and iPhone 4s, come with a visually striking pink or black graphic design that makes a bold statement for any gadget geek. I'm a huge fan of these cases, and if you are as well, you'll be happy to know that the Eley Kishimoto collection will be available in the Incase online store starting Sept. 20 for those inside and outside the UK.

See more images of the new cases when you read more.

>> MODA OPERANDI —One year after taking over at Cacharel, Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto, or Eley Kishimoto, are on their way out — Spring 2009 was their last collection.  Both parties labeled the split as amicable, but the designers noted that there was "a conflict over creative vision" and differences about "where the line should be going."  No surprise here — it can't be easy to design under the label's CEO Jean Bousquet, who founded and used to design the label himself.  [WWD] *image: source

London Fashion Week: Eley Kishimoto Spring 2009

The Eley Kishimoto show was packed, yesterday afternoon, but we managed to raise our arms in the air to get the footage from the show.

The Eley Kishimoto show was packed, yesterday afternoon, but we managed to raise our arms in the air to get the footage from the show. Nicely enough, International Herald Tribune's Suzy Menkes was directly in our line of sight wearing Prada lace proudly. The show was upbeat and colorful and despite the pretty headpieces and flowing skirts the collection had a street wear element that toughened things up (the hip hop soundtrack didn't hurt either). The Daily, in this mornings pressing, said of the show "Random perhaps, but it looked damn good- a reminder that the Eley Kishimoto aesthetic works best with a bit of tough to temper the cute". Which is, a pretty steadfast impression, given what we've heard other people say about the show. Spring 09 in London (as opposed to it's darker side which, last Fall, turned up in opposition to the New York shows) has a bright, cheery attitude and, finally, we're really looking forward to the season. Designer Spotlight: Eley Kishimoto

Since Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto, the London designers behind Eley Kishimoto, were recently named the new creative directors for Cacharel, I thought I would give you a better introduction to their style.

Since Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto, the London designers behind Eley Kishimoto, were recently named the new creative directors for Cacharel, I thought I would give you a better introduction to their style.

Known in some circles as the patron saints of print, Eley Kishimoto has been credited with influencing the resurgence of patterns on the international design scene. They partnered in the 1992 directly after graduating from Central Saint Martins design school, starting in womenswear but eventually expanding into bags, jewelery, sunglasses, and even home accessories.

Bold graphic prints combined with bright colors have always been their forte, brokering collaborations with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander McQueen. I've always been a fan of their lighthearted designs, and I'm really excited to see what they have in mind for Cacharel!

Eley Kishimoto is available at Creatures of Comfort and runs $19-$850.

Fab Flash: Eley Kishimoto to Helm Cacharel

London-based Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto have been tapped as the new designers for Cacharel.

London-based Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto have been tapped as the new designers for Cacharel. The couple has collaborated on the Eley Kishimoto line, well-known for its colorful graphic prints, since the mid-90s. In the past, they have contributed their talent for print designs and fabric development to Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton.

After Eley and Kishimoto move to Paris, their first collection for the French contemporary sportswear line, which was founded in 1962 and is also known for its print-driven pieces, will be for Fall 2008. Looking forward to it!
