Delicate lace and feminine florals came together for a beautiful, ladylike show from Erdem for Spring 2012. We already know Erdem is high on Kate Middleton's radar after she wore Erdem several times on her North American tour this Summer, and for good reason. The brand manages to feel feminine and polished without an ounce of stuffiness.
- Trends: ladylike, florals, lace.
- Colors: shades of blue, yellow, and violet.
- Key Piece: a floral trench, the floral dress with lace detailing.
- Accessories: ankle-strap heels, delicate little car gloves.
- Who Would Wear It: Feminine, polished girls — Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger, Kate Middleton, and Sarah Jessica Parker would look great in this collection.
>> Kate Middleton's sartorial diplomacy is already winning accolades. Arriving Thursday in Ottawa, Kate kicked off her 11-day tour of Canada and the US in a lace dress by UK-based, Canadian-born designer Erdem. Middleton reportedly has quite a few more outfits planned for the trip — 30 looks in total — and if the first few are any indication, more nods to both her home country and host countries are in store. She did not bring a stylist or dresser with her, but appears to be moving away from wearing so many High Street designers. Click through to see all of Kate's travel outfits, with more to come as the trip continues.
>> There's been a lot of back and forth about the designer of Kate Moss's wedding dress, but John Galliano has dominated the rumors. Now, a source close to Moss confirmed that she will wear a Galliano dress when marrying Jamie Hince tomorrow. Her maid of honour Trish Simonon (wife of Clash bassist Paul Simonon), meanwhile, will wear Erdem. [Vogue UK]
>> Seven Erdem pieces — all featuring vibrant, Summery prints — are now available exclusively online at Net-a-Porter. Ranging in price from $670 to $1,630, the mini-collection includes a cross-back day dress, two silk crepe blouses, a pansy-print mini-skirt, zippered capri pants, and a floral biker jacket. "It has the energy of the Spring/Summer 2011 show, but is more focused on day dresses," Erdem explained to Vougue UK. "It's all about fresh, young pieces!" Click through to see the complete selection.
>> Erdem turned to the leading ladies of Hitchcock and the late actress Romy Schneider for a Resort 2012 collection with a vaguely 1950s sensibility. Refined, yes, but the devil is in the details. Lady-like silhouettes — collarless jackets, sheath dresses, capri pants — get a bit cheeky in a palette of contrasting colors and vivid floral prints. A textural mix of fabrics play wildly against each other, while nipped waists and high collars reign everything in. Shot in London by Boo George, the lookbook features model Guinevere Van Seenus.
What Victoria Beckham and Other Fashion Industry Guests (Plus Chelsy Davy) Are Wearing to the Royal Wedding
>> Plenty of talk has been made of Kate Middleton's wedding dress, but what about her wedding guests? Victoria Beckham is said to be wearing one of her own designs — from the Fall 2011 Victoria Beckham collection — paired with custom Christian Louboutin shoes and a Philip Treacy hat.
Alexandra Shulman has gone with Christopher Kane for the big day (who Samantha Cameron is also rumored to have chosen), while Anya Hindmarch picked a "classic and chic" Emilia Wickstead look. Harper's Bazaar's Sara Parker Bowles will wear Osman, while her mother-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will be dressed by Anna Valentine, the designer who created her wedding dress when she married Prince Charles in 2005. And former Armani muse Lady Helen Taylor is wearing Erdem.
