New York Fashion Week: Erin Fetherston Fall 2010
2010 Fall New York Fashion Week: Erin Fetherston
For Fall, Erin Fetherston's typically girly-girl fashion is getting a kick of rock-and-roll attitude. But if you're not into the wild "I'm with the band" look, good news: the show's fresh-faced look was a perfectly pretty, never-goes-out-of-style one. Look how cute!

Trend Alert: Sky Blue Frocks
While Zoe Saldana stuck with cool separates at the How to Make It in America screening in NYC, Olivia Palermo decided to pop in her sky blue frock by Bensoni. This refreshing hue is cooling to the eyes and makes such a flirty, feminine statement. I like how she smartly contrasted it with black tights and a patent belt for a wintry vibe. Come Spring, all you need is a pair of hot sandals and mirrored shades.
The CFDA and Diane Von Furstenberg Welcome New Members
The Council of Fashion Designers of America welcomed its newest members yesterday during a party at New York's Four Seasons restaurant. The 31 recent inductees—including Alexander Wang, Christina and Swaim Hutson, Erin Fetherston, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Chris Benz, Jenna Lyons, Lyn Devon, Koi Suwannagate, and Maria Pinto—were welcomed by CFDA president, Diane Von Furstenberg, who promised "I am your mother, mentor and leader."
The topic of conversation ranged from saving the garment district—as many of the young designers produce the majority of their collections in New York—to memories of childhood design projects. Alexander Wang remembered copying a Versace shoe for a fifth grade papier-mâché project, Albertus Swanepoel draped fabrics on dolls' heads as a child, and Irene Neuwirth started making her first jewelry with oven-baked Shrinky Dinks. The Hidden Treasures of QVC and HSN

Shopping online feels as natural as purchasing in-store, but buying clothes from a TV-based retailer still seems a little unconventional. Designers, however, are increasingly venturing onto the small screen to hawk their wares. Isaac Mizrahi, always one to explore new ways of getting products to customers, inked a deal with QVC over the Summer, while Naeem Khan is set to debut his premiere collection for HSN on October 28. We took a quick look at some HSN and QVC products that are available now, from established designers like Erin Fetherston and Kenneth Jay Lane.
21 Hair and Makeup Looks You WON'T Be Wearing Come Spring
From the runways onto department and drugstore shelves, I'm sure we'll see lots of fresh new makeup options and application techniques go full circle come March. Last month in New York, we saw six very wearable trends emerge, from peach lips to bold eyeliner to heavy-handed under-the-eye liners. But throughout the course of New York Fashion Week and other Spring 2010 shows, including Paris, London, and Milan, there were other looks that won't quite make the transition. Take this sequin forehead heart-shaped applique, for instance — straight from the Ungaro show in Paris, for which Lindsay Lohan acted as artistic adviser. While I appreciate each and every designer's artistic flair, some looks just won't translate to real life. See what I mean now.

2010 Spring New York Fashion Week Fab Roundup! Part 4
New York Fashion Week is always a whirlwind, and it's important to stop and smell the fashion roses. In my final roundup, soak up sleek styles from Tommy Hilfiger, edgy chic by Kimberly Ovitz, and pretty musings by Erin Fetherston. Phi (pictured) was my final show — front row Traina spotting! — and it was every bit irreverent as expected. And the shoes, lace up booties fit for Burning Man, had editors whispering in the exiting elevator.
