Will Giles Deacon Be Able to Singlehandedly Pull Ungaro Out of Its Funk?
>> Cathy Horyn traces the faltering house of Ungaro and the resignation of former Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige (the man responsible for hiring Lindsay Lohan), in the latest T magazine.
Three designers left under Moufarrige's reign, starting with Peter Dundas; tension reportedly built between the two when Moufarrige interfered with the creative side, Horyn reports: "The stylist George Cortina, who worked at Ungaro with Dundas, said, 'It was the worst experience I can remember,' recalling a 2 am scene when he warned Moufarrige, whom he found rearranging Dundas’s show lineup, that he would be thrown out a window if he continued meddling."
Moufarrige also said that Anna Wintour approved of appointing Lindsay Lohan »

Esteban Cortázar Resurfaces With a New Collection at Colombiamoda
It was a sad day in fashion history when Esteban Cortázar left Ungaro, but the designer is officially back in the game showing a collection at the Colombiamoda fair in Colombia. For Fall '10, the designer showed off his street chic aesthetic and created a mix of cool girl offerings in the way of tailored leather shorts, leopard print minidresses, and body-con suiting. Furthering the fresh vibe were cute cutout dresses, loose button-up shirts, and utility pants. Definitely a more casual luxe approach compared to his work at Ungaro, but we see potential for a major comeback. What do you think?
It's Official: Lindsay Lohan Out at Ungaro
It was a media doozy last year when fashion darling Esteban Cortezar left Ungaro, and the house hired Lindsay Lohan as its "artistic advisor." Now, one questionable Spring collection later, the celebrity designer has confirmed she is no longer with the fashion house. When asked why she wasn't present at Ungaro's Fall '10 runway show this week, Lohan responded, “Because I don’t work for them anymore. There's legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it." Ungaro owner Asim Abdullah also commented stating, "She's not involved in this [Fall '10] collection." Looks like it's the end of the road for Lohan and Ungaro — are you surprised?

The Best and Worst of Ungaro
It was a tumultuous year for the house of Ungaro. It started off strong with wunderkind Esteban Cortazar as its creative director. The designer left nothing to the imagination during his tenure at Ungaro, creating hit after hit. Sadly, things headed south when the house decided to enlist Lindsay Lohan as its artistic advisor. Consequently, and with much drama, Esteban resigned from his post and left Ungaro at the mercy of Lohan and chief designer Estrella Archs. The rest is fashion history. Take a walk with me through the best and worst of Ungaro . . .
Alexander Wang Takes His Spring 2010 After Party to a Gas Station
>> Alexander Wang may have changed up his collection's look for Spring 2010, but he's not about to lose his street cred. He partnered with Katie Grand and LOVE, rented out a Mobil gas station last night, and brought a crowd — which included Trish Goff, Daphne Guinness, L'Wren Scott, Erin Wasson, Vanessa Traina, plus fellow designers Esteban Cortazar and Gareth Pugh.
Despite the fact that the station's gas tanks were drained yesterday afternoon and the venue drenched with nonflammable suds, cigarettes were verboten; nicotine-dependent guests were constantly reminded with "Please stop smoking!" announcements. To take their minds off those forbidden cigarette, there were performances by both Courtney Love, who told the audience she received (ironically) a carton of cigarettes and a pair of shoes to play, and Santigold; plus guests had a free run of anything in the station's convenience store: Bee Shaffer took advantage of the candy aisle.
Alexander, for his part, seemed to be enjoying himself — he chatted up Lily Donaldson and Frankie Rayder, got down with Hanne Gaby Odiele (below), and jumped onstage and into Courtney Love's arms during her performance.
