Fab Flash: Designers Create Inaugural Goodies Zac Posen, Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, and others are designing tees and totes in support of Barack Obama's inauguration. “This is the most exciting political moment of my lifetime,” said Zac Posen, who designed this cool charcoal gray burnout tee. Not only are these items a fresh way to show off patriotism, you'll feel good knowing proceeds go toward the inauguration costs. FabSugar has rounded up some of her favorites. Check it out!
Which Inaugural Sketch Should Michelle Obama Choose? The idea of what icon-in-the-making Michelle Obama is going to wear to the presidential inauguration is making fashion folks giddy. Fab Flash: Wal-Mart Gets Political As Nov. 4 looms near, the campaign trail gets hotter and hotter. We've heard the celebrity endorsements, but what about retailers? H. Lee Scott, president of Wal-Mart, Inc., has decided to help Americans make their decision with the launch of the Wal-Mart video-based voter guide. One might be skeptical of Scott's intentions after being charged of trying to influence his employees not to vote for Obama, but the site promises to be nonpartisan.
Who Wore It Better? Thakoon Red and Purple Print Dress I wonder if Julianne saw Michelle Obama in her Thakoon red and purple print dress when she wore it at the Democratic National Convention. Needless to say, it's a cute little shift — from Thakoon's '09 Resort collection — appropriate for both political functions and film festivals, where Julianne wore a shorter hem version. It is a surprisingly versatile dress, but who rocked it?
When I spotted this exquisite laptop bag on Trendhunter, I thought wow, finally a bag that's unique, chic and sure enough—straight from Europe! Dutch designer Fab has created these fashionable handmade leather laptop bags which come in a variety of styles and colors. They've also got adorable wallets, purses and belts to match the bags. Unfortunately, the entire website is in Dutch, and the designs are made in Amsterdam, so there's little chance I'll be getting one anytime soon. Although I can tell you this, they cost $292 each which is quite expensive, but considering how fabulous they are, I just can't be a hater!
Everyone loves a great apron, but have you ever thought about your oven mitt? An oven mitt is a fantastic way to spruce up your kitchen with a little bit of whimsy and a lot of flair.
I came across these three beautiful oven mitts at the Curiosity Shoppe. They're $25 a piece, and were created by the folks at Deadly Squire (although how anything so cute could come from something called "deadly" is beyond me). They've also got matching pot holders for $20.
If branches and birds aren't your style, check out these hot dot oven mitts and pot holders at Chiasso. They range from $12-$18.
