A luxe faux fur vest is a necessity in every Winter wardrobe. We've seen trendsetters like Nicole Richie, Rihanna, and Rachel Roy incorporate this furry layering pieces into their outfits — so we headed to Nordstrom at The Grove to style three different versions of the coveted-cool faux fur vest. Whether you prefer traditional, cropped, or colored, we have a vest for everyone in this installment of Currently Trending. On Allison: Theyskens Theory top, Proenza Schouler skirt, JewelMint necklace.
Clearly your love for Jeffrey Campbell's Lita heels knows no bounds — the sky-high platforms have been the favorite of many a fashion blogger this year, and I love seeing how creatively you guys style them. Fab reader Stylishion reached new heights by pairing her cool kelly green Litas with a black top, leggings, a faux fur vest, and a fab Forever21 clutch. Love the look!
Congrats to Stylishion!
Everyone else, submit your looks, and I might feature you on FabSugar!
Trust me — I am not a real fur fan. I have been a vegetarian for two thirds of my life. I think it can look cool, but I am obviously not a fan of taking an animal's life — even for fashion. So, with fur being a huge trend this season, I think it is important to have alternatives. Faux fur can look good and still allow real fur-conscious individuals to wear the trend.
Rachel Zoe launches her spring 2010 collection for QVC this week, and no piece is over $200. Some of Zoe's favorites — which she shares with FabTV in the video above — include a leopard tuxedo jacket (that she layers under a matching trench coat), zipper-covered biker jackets (available in tan, black, and gray), a classic "every girl needs one" black blazer, and colorful spring scarves in peacock prints. Our pick? The update to fall's faux fur vest — a lighter-weight version with a satin back in dove gray and off-white.
The best fur (and faux fur) vests this fall come in shades of ecru and gray with subtle details that set them apart from the rest. Helmut Lang's winter white funnel-neck shearling, 3.1 Phillip Lim's grosgrain ribbon and fur gilet, Karl Donoghue's asymmetrical, raw-edged wrap around, and Rebecca Taylor's knit-trimmed faux vest each make the cut for our favorites toppers of the season.
