Last night, Gilt, the megabrand behind luxurious online offers, launched Gilt Taste with Ruth Reichl officially on board as editorial advisor. Speculations about Francis Lam were correct, as he joins his former Gourmet editor in chief as features editor while recipes for Taste are being developed by Melissa Clark.

In the editor's letter, Reichl describes the site as "a new kind of magazine, one that has no ads and is supported solely by sales. We don't just want to sell you great products — we want to tell you the stories of the people who create them and inspire you with delicious new ways to use them." When it comes to the shopping side of Gilt Taste, there's a variety of artisan America products ranging from caved-aged cheese from Murray's Cheese to white truffle cream from Gourmet Attitude.

While I doubt that I'll be purchasing many of the groceries, I'm excited to try the recipes and read the informative and thought-provoking articles that are sure to be highlighted on Gilt Taste. What do you think of the website?

Yup, you heard me right. The 2011 Volkswagon Jetta is going for $5,995 on the luxury discount site, Gilt.com, tomorrow, reports CNN. There are only three available, and each one will be sold on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That's a great deal, because the car retails for $15,995. How do you get yours? The car will only be available via the Gilt mobile app tomorrow, and you can access the deal through your web browser at the Gilt.com website on Thursday and Friday. Who's gonna try their luck for one?

Atención! On Aug. 12, Gilt will debut its cheaper little sister, Gilt Fuse. That's right peeps, the new site works the same as Gilt, but will instead carry lines from contemporary brands with much lower prices — ranging around $75 to $150 to be exact. "We recognized that there is a need in the flash sale category to offer fashionable, contemporary brands at significant discounts,” said Gilt's CEO, Susan Lyne. The first set of sales will include cute creations from Plenty by Tracy Reese, Kova and T, Modern Amusement, CC Skye, and BCBG all marked up to 70 percent off retail. Can't. Wait.
