Chloe Sevigny's YSL Noir Gloves: Love It or Hate It?

Chloe Sevigny has a lot of fashion pull — we've long admired her eclectic style.

Chloe Sevigny has a lot of fashion pull — we've long admired her eclectic style. She always stands out at events for going against the grain, showing us something fresh.

Last night, at the Metropolitan Opera Gala premiere of Armida, she opted for a simple black jumpsuit. There's no question she can pull that off, but long noir gloves in April just seem too wintry to me. I'm all about dramatic effect, but I feel like it's a month, or two, too late. That funky gold necklace saves the look, breaking up the all black, but I'd like to see a little more skin — you?

Freaky or Fabulous? Valentine's Day Smittens

Valentine's Day is fast approaching.

Valentine's Day is fast approaching. Do you have a gift for your lovah? Here's something unique — it's not a mitten, it's a Smitten ($16), made by Etsy user lovedriven. Confused? Check out this drawing. It's a glove that love birds can wear while holding hands. You know, so they're not forced to stop holding hands to be warm. It's definitely a novel idea, but is it freaky or fabulous?

Forever 21 Belted Glove Skirt: Love It or Hate It?

I love me some tweed, but for this skirt, a cheeky accessory comes with.

I love me some tweed, but for this skirt, a cheeky accessory comes with. When I first spied the Forever 21 Belted Glove Skirt ($32), my reaction was a laugh. I debated pulling the belt off all together, but that misses the point, right? My gut tells me I don't want people smirking at my look. What's your take? Is it wearable or just for giggles?

I can't think of a better time than now to present you with De*Nada, an emerging accessories line that gives a whole new meaning to the term cozy chic.

I can't think of a better time than now to present you with De*Nada, an emerging accessories line that gives a whole new meaning to the term cozy chic. It specializes in knits, more specifically beanies, gloves, and amazing roped scarves ($58). Peruvian designer Virginia Blanca Arrisueño started De*Nada — translating to you're welcome in Spanish — in 2005, and yearned to mix modern styles with ethnic touches. The latest Autumn/Winter '09 collection makes me want to smother my body in its delicately cool knits and frolic in bed all day.

Would You Pay $34 For Gloves With Missing Fingers?

The price seems a little steep, but at $34, these Etre Touchy Gloves do solve a basic problem: using your iPhone, iPod, computer, or other touch-screen device while wearing gloves.

The price seems a little steep, but at $34, these Etre Touchy Gloves do solve a basic problem: using your iPhone, iPod, computer, or other touch-screen device while wearing gloves. Most gadgets won't respond to a woolly glove, only bare skin. In theory, I like these. And on days that the temperature doesn't dip too low, I guess they're practical — but I still think they're a bit silly-looking.

For the record, I'm still torn on these fingerless gloves, though most of you find them totally geek chic.

Come Fab Finding With Me: Glove Me

I'm in desperate need of a new pair of cozy gloves (or two!).

I'm in desperate need of a new pair of cozy gloves (or two!). I don't live in snow, but my hands still manage to freeze every morning. I'm not too picky about style — I'd rather see where your imagination takes you. But I will say, there's nothing more sexy than a buttery leather glove that smothers the hands. Oh, and I don't want anything super sporty or ridiculously expensive.

I'll start you off with this Vogue Russia editorial with Masha Novoselova; use it as inspiration.

The Look For Less: Alexander McQueen Fingerless Gloves

After perusing a selection of gorge(ous) gloves, I came to the realization that I need a pair of fingerless gloves.
Alexander McQueen at ShopStyle

After perusing a selection of gorge(ous) gloves, I came to the realization that I need a pair of fingerless gloves. They remind me of Madonna circa 1980, plus I love the tough-chic vibe. I live in a fairly moderate climate, so these Alexander McQueen Fingerless Gloves ($470) would be a perfect Fall staple. But dang, that much for a pair of leather gloves? I don't think so!

Trend Alert: Gorge(ous) Gloves

Gloves have a certain mystique.

Gloves have a certain mystique. Then there's the upped glam factor when you slip into gorge(ous) gloves. Remember how screen sirens of yore seduced with their Hollywood waves and sexy satin gloves? It may be early Fall, but Lily Allen mixes things up in her black ruched gloves; with her dark shades she looks very incognito chic. The best part, depending on where you dwell: gloves are functional. Cold coziers start scoping out leather and cashmere; sun worshippers feast on lace and fingerless.

Fall 2009 Trend Report: Half And Fingerless Gloves

Gloves were quite popular overall this Fall 2009 but there were many half and fingerless options that stood out.

Gloves were quite popular overall this Fall 2009 but there were many half and fingerless options that stood out. Paired with bare arms these extra-short gloves made for a sometimes dainty, sometimes tough fashion statement. In fact, the difference was in the details. While Alexander McQueen toughened his up with studs, Salvatore Ferragamo added feminine roses as a finishing touch.
