Don't toss those summery hot pink hues just yet — you'll be needing them come Fall. This fun, punchy color has been popping up in palettes and lipsticks of the coming season. Estée Lauder placed a pretty hot pink in its Violet Underground palette for Fall 2012, and companies like Nars and MAC continue to churn out fluorescent blush colors. And stars like Ashley Greene are still swiping hot pink onto their lips for red carpets.

The trick to repurposing your pinks, while still keeping them fresh, is opting for a deeper hue. Summer was all about neon, bubblegum pinks; shelve those pinks for a more jewel-toned take on the shade. You can even custom create your own autumnal hot pink, layering a more subdued tone on top of your summertime version. The rest of the look stays the same: just downplay the feature that isn't carrying the neon. Your hot pinks are dying to hit the spotlight this Fall, so why not bring them out to play?

Leave it to Sarah Jessica Parker to pair a hot-pink cardigan with a preppy plaid skirt. The actress was spotted leaving her NYC apartment in an outfit that's sassy up top and preppy chic on bottom. Her Comme des Garçons skirt would be too demure on its own, but paired with a bright cardigan, it's instantly revitalized. A red crossbody bag added even more pizazz while simultaneously feeding into the red-and-pink color trend. I spotted this photograph in the portfolio of Bruce Hemming and fell in love with hot pink all over again. I usually prefer dustier shades of pink, but this kitchen really proves that fuchsia hues can look all grown up and sophisticated. The girlish color needn't be reserved for the PBteen set! It's all about balance, keeping the rest of the room simple, and not filling it with too many florals, etc. I thought I'd round up some more grown-up fuchsia items if you're looking to integrate a little candy pop into your home!

It's only episode two of The City, but the friction is already on. Luckily, things were more positive in the style department.
