Yes, You Can Transition Your Hot Pinks From Summer to Fall

Don't toss those summery hot pink hues just yet — you'll be needing them come Fall.

Don't toss those summery hot pink hues just yet — you'll be needing them come Fall. This fun, punchy color has been popping up in palettes and lipsticks of the coming season. Estée Lauder placed a pretty hot pink in its Violet Underground palette for Fall 2012, and companies like Nars and MAC continue to churn out fluorescent blush colors. And stars like Ashley Greene are still swiping hot pink onto their lips for red carpets.

The trick to repurposing your pinks, while still keeping them fresh, is opting for a deeper hue. Summer was all about neon, bubblegum pinks; shelve those pinks for a more jewel-toned take on the shade. You can even custom create your own autumnal hot pink, layering a more subdued tone on top of your summertime version. The rest of the look stays the same: just downplay the feature that isn't carrying the neon. Your hot pinks are dying to hit the spotlight this Fall, so why not bring them out to play?

Celebrities Wearing Hot Pink

With all the bold pops of color to choose from this season — yellow, lime, aqua — is there any one more classic that hot pink? Not only did we spot the hue in Spring collections from Tory Burch, Nanette Lepore, and more, but some of our favorite style-setting celebs have been incorporating the color into their wardrobes as well. Though the standard for red-carpet fixtures like Nina Dobrev, Caroline Sieber, and Lindsay Ellingson is to pair these brights with neutral black or white, you can always take it a step further by mixing your brights together — think a hot pink top with bright blue trousers, or an electric yellow blouse tucked into a pink pencil skirt. For some more chic examples, we've rounded up 10 of our favorite recent celebrity examples of hot pink done right. Click through to see how they do it, then shop our editors' picks.

SJP Injects Major Sass Into Plaid

Leave it to Sarah Jessica Parker to pair a hot-pink cardigan with a preppy plaid skirt.

Leave it to Sarah Jessica Parker to pair a hot-pink cardigan with a preppy plaid skirt. The actress was spotted leaving her NYC apartment in an outfit that's sassy up top and preppy chic on bottom. Her Comme des Garçons skirt would be too demure on its own, but paired with a bright cardigan, it's instantly revitalized. A red crossbody bag added even more pizazz while simultaneously feeding into the red-and-pink color trend. If you admire SJP's eclectic look as much as we do, get her exact skirt, as well as some similar pieces, below. Or, next time you're reaching for a plaid piece in your closet, think to give it a major pop via a bright accent. Try a plaid dress with a bold bag, or a plaid blazer with neon flats.

Sometimes all it takes to perk up a drab day is a bright pair of pumps, and Fab reader savvy has this remedy down pat!

Sometimes all it takes to perk up a drab day is a bright pair of pumps, and Fab reader savvy has this remedy down pat! She tucked a Yumi Kim button-down blouse into a belted BCBG skirt, and let her feet do the talking by slipping on a pair of glossy pink Miu Miu pumps. The pops of pink in her outfit are an unexpected yet welcomed departure from the typical Fall color palette and help put a colorful twist on a classic look.

Roundup: Fuchsia, All Grown Up

I spotted this photograph in the portfolio of Bruce Hemming and fell in love with hot pink all over again.

I spotted this photograph in the portfolio of Bruce Hemming and fell in love with hot pink all over again. I usually prefer dustier shades of pink, but this kitchen really proves that fuchsia hues can look all grown up and sophisticated. The girlish color needn't be reserved for the PBteen set! It's all about balance, keeping the rest of the room simple, and not filling it with too many florals, etc. I thought I'd round up some more grown-up fuchsia items if you're looking to integrate a little candy pop into your home!

I Want This Wardrobe: Whitney Port, The City

It's only episode two of The City, but the friction is already on.

It's only episode two of The City, but the friction is already on. Luckily, things were more positive in the style department. Whitney provided many fashion inspirations, the most fresh being this look she wore to work when Kelly revealed that she was chosen as one of three emerging designers for a Rue La La feature. Her hot pink tank and gold necklace play a sassy role, while the black boyfriend blazer and skinny jeans act as the tough cookies. Right-on combination.

The streets never looked so bright until moni2182 walked on them. This sidewalk siren showed off her fabulous fashion skills in a bright pink silk blouse and gray silk trousers. I love the silhouette and how the moody hues temper the loud top. Perfection all over, brava.

Gogosushi cuts down on her shopping costs by making her own clothes — now that's talent!

Gogosushi cuts down on her shopping costs by making her own clothes — now that's talent! The seamstress showed off her pink passion today wearing a bright DIY bandage skirt. For maximum contrast, she paired it with black tights, matching leather hoodie, and screen-print tee. In fact, it reminds me of something Taylor Momsen would wear. Rock out girl.

Here's what she has on:

Tee: DIY Cavour Print tee
Jacket: Sportsgirl
Skirt: DIY
Bag: Mimco
Oxfords: Scooter
