At a recent Resort showing we saw a fashion gal wearing this Karta Grid print dress. The gal, a very womanly fashionista indeed, looked smashing. It's nice to see these garments on someone other than a size two. Knowing that the garment works on more than just the models is something that really solidifies the brand in our minds. Now part of the Net-a-Porter blow out sale, this dress is only a bit over $200 and seems like it would be a wise investment. Karta is a newly founded Los Angeles based brand that puts out quite a few shift dresses though each with its own special embellishments. It seems like Karta is just in time for Fall's opulence trends (an off-shoot of the recession) and should be favored by trend aware fashionistas who shop at a contemporary price point and veer away from the avant garde. Like any designer, as long as they're doing something interesting and speaking to someone who loves fashion, we'll take them just as they are. Below, check out some of Karta's other offerings, all marked down for Summer.
Ohio-based designer boutique Jinny has mobilized and moved online — and boy am I glad. ShopJinny.com provides a new internet pit stop for boutique junkies: It stocks lovely labels like Mara Hoffman, Karta, and Tibi. Best of all, there's a site-wide sale of up to 75 percent off right now . . . so go!
Designers, and their followers (ahem) can't get enough of embellishments, i.e. mirrors, beading, embroidery and sequins. Beautiful in both the Winter and Summer, something subtly sparkly is the proper choice for a date night, a cocktail part-tay or if you just want to feel pretty. Ali Larter knows how to dazzle in her beige subtle sparkler. Because the aforementioned embellishments tend to be around the neckline and front of dresses, I suggest a lovely updo, as not to distract from the subtle sparkles. Again, Ali, nice work.
I loved the way Kelly Osbourne looked in Karta's jeweled-waist dress so much, I featured her in Celebrity Style. Now, actress and entertainment journalist extraordinaire Maria Menounos showed up to the Very Sexy Super Bowl bash in the same dress. Kelly chose to cover up, while Maria let her cleavage and legs take center stage. I'm with Kelly on this one. Whose version do you love better?
Has Kelly Osbourne stepped up to the fashion plate or what? From her new cropped 'do to her slimmed-down bod, Ozzy's little girl is all grown up and looking Fab. At the Fiat 500 party, she stood out in a gorgeous Karta jeweled-waist dress that's part sexy, part sophisticated. I commend the gold shoes on black-opaque tights effect. Out with the goth, in with the chic!

Saks just announced up to 55% off contemporary so . . . happy holidays!

Mischa Barton wore Karta's Geometric Jeweled Dress back in September at Milan Fashion Week. Maternity wear designer Liz Lange just showed up to a Glamour party in the same frock. Both ladies look svelte but I prefer it on Mischa because the funky pattern matches her bohemian style. Who do you think wore it better?
I will love rhinestones until the day I die. What's not to love? They're shiny, they're pretty and, compared to the real thing (diamonds), they're inexpensive. A few rhinestones makes anything appear that much more luxe — especially if that anything is black. Create an evening eclipse with a rhinestone adorned noir item and call it a night.
It's Milan Fashion Week and Mischa Barton (pictured with Margherita Missoni) attended The New York Times Style Magazine's party in a geometric Karta dress. This look is girly yet cool, and a bit bohemian, just the way Mischa likes it. Her Chloe Heloise bag matches the dress perfectly, as do the round toe pumps and her red hair.
