Colder temps don't mean we'll be surrendering our right to slip into our favorite little dresses. Instead of looking at the chill as a death sentence for pretty frocks, think of it as an opportunity to get creative with the rest of your closet. The slinky dress worn alone in Summer can look just as fab layered up to fight the cold with soft knits, cozy cardigans, and the perfect tights and booties. We've layered up one great find and given this Rachel Comey Dress ($202, originally $403) three Winter-ready looks — taking it from the early chill straight through to snowy days. See E-Tailer La Garçonne's New In-House Collection
>> La Garçonne is adding another facet to its ever-growing empire: a clothing line. Designed by the site's founder and creative director, Kris Kim, La Garçonne Moderne embodies the same aesthetic that fills much of the online store — colors are dark, silhouettes are streamlined, and the overall mood is one of androgynous ease. Made up of borrowed-from-the-boys basics — trenches, cardigans, blazers — cut long and lean in soft-worn fabrics like washed silk and brushed cotton, the 27-piece collection is priced from $295 to $1,450. Click through for a peek at the lookbook, modeled by Coco Young and available exclusively at La Garçonne.

La Garconne Designing Private Label
>> Opening Ceremony has its own label, and now La Garconne — the online-only specialty retailer with the strong cult following for its tomboyish essentials — is getting on the train. The e-tailer's founder, Kris Kim, has designed a ready-to-wear line in the past, and says now: "We're designing a private label. We haven't talked about it yet, but it will be a small women's ready to wear collection with the same point of view as the store. The price points are up in the air." [Daily Front Row]
Indie Designers and the Labels We Love Are Up to 50% Off at La Garconne
I dream of a closet full of Rachel Comey, Lim, Rag and Bone, Thakoon, and Vanessa Bruno. It seems that La Garconne wants to make that dream come true with their Winter sale, which is filled with fantastic indie and contemporary labels, as well as some pretty luxe pieces at some pretty luxe discounts. While some of the prices are still high, they make investment pieces a lot more affordable. Check out what I'm coveting right now.
Celeb Style: Hilary Rhoda
Models tend to have the best street style, and classic beauty Hilary Rhoda is the perfect example. We caught her on the streets of Manhattan recently, braving the chill in a snug and stylish ensemble. She starts with a pair of skinny black jeans ($189) and a fresh white tee, then adds a gray tweed coat ($60), black ballet flats, and cozy fingerless gloves. I especially love how she spices up her outfit with a bright red scarf ($12) and Alexander Wang's Rocco duffle bag ($875). Click the items above to start shopping!

Found! Kate Walsh's Draped Carven Dress
While Kate Walsh didn't walk the Emmy Awards red carpet, she did show up looking fabulous at HBO's afterparty. It's hard to deny the power of her Jersey Draped Dress by Carven ($740) — the rust color perfectly complements her hair and skin tone. It's sexy, fashionable, and the twist detail gives it further oomph. If you love this dress as much as Kate does, and you've got money to spare, wear it to your next big soiree. Heads will spin for sure.
Shopping: Cold Weather Essentials—Infinity Scarves

It really doesn't get any easier than these cold weather coverups. Infinity scarves and snoods give all the warmth and style of your favorite oversized scarf while staying in place. Our favorites this season are the Rachel Comey wraparound with tassels and Topshop's ultra chunky cobweb knit.
Shopping: Thakoon Addition Spring 2010

The spring 2010 lineup for Thakoon Addition—Thakoon Panichgul’s less expensive ready-to-wear offering—has just hit stores like Kirna Zabete and La Garçonne along with the resort deliveries. Fashion editors and PYTs are scooping up pieces from this little-sister-to-Thakoon collection with gathered detailing and asymmetrical ruffles, especially those dresses in washed floral prints. Although still not a bargain, the collection retails for around 20% lower than Panichgul's original line.
