Marilyn Minter's Green Pink Caviar Tote Bag: Love It or Hate It?

If Marilyn Minter's sticky and sweet Green Pink Caviar video for Madonna left you wanting more, check out this Marilyn Minter Tote Bag ($48). The still image of the tongue in full thrust — complete with gold goo — isn't as crazy as the video scene, but it's still racy. In fact, if you buy the tote this month, proceeds will go to Bright Pink, a nonprofit breast and ovarian cancer organization. Charitable indeed, but is that enough to make you want to purchase it?

Marilyn and Madonna Get Sticky and Sweet

Anyone else a Marilyn Minter fan?

Anyone else a Marilyn Minter fan? The photographer, known for delicious yet raw imagery, apparently has another big fan by the name of Madonna. The original Material Girl enlisted the photog to create a nine-minute video that will accompany her opening song "Candyshop" on her latest Sticky & Sweet tour. The vid, very sticky and sweet indeed, shows a pair of giant juicy lips playing with sparkly gold, orange, silver, and green goo. Marilyn was so flattered, she expected she would have to pay Madonna, but quite the contrary, "Then [Madonna] actually paid me a bunch of money and sent tickets,” said Minter. Here's a glimpse of the film; this already ran at the Sunshine Cinemas in NYC and in Times Square earlier this year. Nine minutes of this, giant sized, to Madonna?

Fab Read: Marilyn Minter

I think it's safe to judge a book by its cover in the case of Marilyn Minter's debut book, $38.

I think it's safe to judge a book by its cover in the case of Marilyn Minter's debut book, $38. In her own way photographer and painter Marilyn Minter sees through material possessions; she sees them as a canvas for splattering such items with mud and sweat. Confused? She puts it, "So many images we see every day are fake looking - if there's any dirt at all, it looks like it's been put on with tweezers."

She opens our eyes to the fakeness of all the glamorama, which she has discovered through a career spanning nearly 40 years. Today her paintings and, increasingly, her photography, expose the ultimate failure of fashion and glamour to hide either our flaws or the dirty underside of human beauty. Sounds like some intriguing eye candy - who says fashion isn't heavy?
