It's a sobering statistic: one in four women endures partner violence in her lifetime. To raise awareness of the issue, beauty brand Mark is launching a lipstick-and-compact gift set ($24). A solid 100 percent of the net proceeds go to M.powerment, an initiative that distributes grants to programs and organizations working to end dating abuse. A small purchase can go a long way: in the past four years, M.powerment has raised more than a million dollars to help end dating abuse. Brand ambassador Ashley Greene is also getting in on the action with a playlist of positive, empowering songs for women. (Turns out she likes Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera.) If you or somebody you know is in an abusive relationship, there is help and support available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Ashley Greene wore a natural-toned makeup look at the Young Hollywood Awards last night, but it was a pop of purple on the lids that provided a fresh, perfect-for-Summer feel. "I wanted to create a soft, smoky eye, to offset Ashley's gorgeous black bustier and slim pants," said celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali.
To do this, Scali applied a bronze base on Ashley's lids and just underneath the lashes. Then, to make her blue eyes pop, Scali added a dab of plum shadow (the purple hue from Mark's nine-shade On the Dot Color Compact ($16) on the lids as a highlight. The look was finished with black liner on top and bottom lashes and multiple coats of mascara.

Miss BellaSugar had the chance to chat with leader of The Hills at a Mark cosmetics event this week . . . and you know she had my back! We got the scoop on Lauren Conrad's beauty secrets as well as her new accessories line in collaboration with Mark cosmetics. As you know, LC is a brand ambassador and the company is launching a campaign called m.Powerment, which aims to speak out against domestic violence. Right on. More news, Lauren is launching an accessories collection with Mark. Between her Lauren Conrad collection and her success with the show, Lauren is on the up and up. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the colorful printed dress she wore at this event is from her Holiday collection.
One item to note is the 'Have a Heart Necklace' that is (only) $22 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity. Here's what LC had to say about the special necklace:
“I collaborated with Mark in doing the ‘Have a Heart Necklace,’ which you have in front of you guys, and we are all wearing. They come in silver and gold, they are double-sided. They have the little stones on one side and the little heart on the back of the pendant. It retails for $22 and 100 percent of the profit goes to charity. It's basically the gist of the charity. It also comes with a little extender in the back so you can kinda adjust how long you want. It's also fun to layer with different pieces. It’s just a kind of an easy piece for people to wear.”
