>> Now that you've seen the entire Lanvin for H&M collection in still pictures, it's time to check it out in motion. Watch the collection's campaign girls Natasha Poly, Hannelore Knuts, Tatiana Cotliar, Jane Schmitt, and Garance Dumont; the collection's lookbook model Irina Lazareanu; plus Leigh Lezark, Milagros Schmoll, and Tao Okamoto in the whimsical vid styled by Camille Bidault Waddington — complete with thought bubbles and an Alber Elbaz cameo.
>> Chadwick Tyler, preferred photographer of Alexander Wang and the burgeoning lensman who brought us Supreme's stunningly ethereal Spring 2009 show package, is holding his first gallery exhibition, Tiberius, starting Feb. 10 and running through March 12 at the Honey Space Gallery in New York.
The show revolves around "the model" — 52 models to be exact, ranging from Milagros Schmoll to Karlie Kloss to Imogen Morris-Clarke (full list). "It was important to me to have a broad range of talent, from the most established of girls to those for whom this is a first show. Most I have worked with before, others I have wanted to work with for some time," Tyler noted. Inspired by his life as a "farm kid," Chadwick produced original black and white portraits remniscent of the Dust Bowl, but with a modern twist — "the juxtaposition of the meticulous and the disheveled."
>> Jean Paul Gaultier was high energy yesterday at his Fall 2008 Couture show, exuberantly explaining his choice of outfit to Hilary Alexander pre-show, and running through the fluorescent green laser beams that panned the runway post-show, poking Coco Rocha on the way.
For all of JPG's exuberance, I am less than excited about this sci-fi, cage-inspired outing. Underneath all the decoration were a few solid pieces, namely a coral lace-like cage dress worn by Patricia Schmid and a tux suit worn by Sasha Pivovarova, but for the most part, a lot of it ended up looking less than luxe, especially if croc was involved.
Take Gucci's Spring collection, add a smidgen of Missoni's Spring line, and sprinkle in models-of-the-moment Kim Noorda, Irina Lazareanu, and Milagros Schmoll, and what do you get? Mango's Spring/Summer collection! The latest pieces display the bright pink and yellow hues of Gucci, the oversized floral prints of Missoni, and a bit of safari style. For me, a successful model is versatile: She can do masculine as well as feminine, and she can pull off a boy-short 'do just as easily as long locks. Eighteen-year-old Milagros Schmoll can, and has, done it all.
She started out in the industry with long, wavy hair, and recently chopped it all off for a more edgy look. Her narrow eyes, plump pout, and freckled nose enable her to pull it off. I was first intrigued by her name; I couldn't quite pinpoint where she was from. It turns out, she hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Exotic and unconventional — Fab Face indeed!
