Shop It Now: Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2013

Michelle Obama wore it, and now you can too.

Michelle Obama wore it, and now you can too. Available now at Moda Operandi, is Thom Browne's smartly tailored Pre-Fall 2013 collection, which includes pieces very similar to the custom-made fit-and-flare coat that Mrs. Obama sported at the inauguration in DC on Monday.

Among the goodies are a handful of double-breasted dresses cut in the same navy silk tie jacquard, as well as a pleated dress in midnight blue whose silhouette bears a striking resemblance to that now-famous piece of outerwear. For those who admire Thom Browne's figure-enhancing cuts but do not wish to be the first lady's mini me, there are also plenty of other gorgeous, menswear-inspired ensembles; our favorite is an extremely luxe-looking wool houndstooth ensemble made up of a crewneck shell, round-shouldered jacket, and knee-length pencil skirt.

Click through to see the entirety of the Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2013 pieces available for presale on Moda Operandi, and hurry — not only does the trunk show end Jan. 25, but judging by the amount of buzz Browne is currently receiving, these pieces are sure to be snapped up very soon.

Best of 2012: Online Retailer of the Year

Online shopping continued to rock our fashion socks off in 2012.

Online shopping continued to rock our fashion socks off in 2012. Our new favorite sites in 2012 included Club Monaco, which debuted its ecommerce portion in March; Uniqlo, which opened a US ecommerce site in October; J.Crew Factory, which also got started up in October; Aritzia, which debuted at the end of November; as well as Moda Operandi and Rent the Runway. We loved Club Monaco's sleek look and even sleeker designs, Uniqlo's minimalistic aesthetic, Moda Operandi's fabulous access to preorder covetable designer wear (and now buy in-season as well), J.Crew Factory's amazing discounts, Rent the Runway for allowing us to borrow, not buy, designer dresses, and Aritzia for finally bringing its must-have Vancouver designs to America. So now it's time to vote. Which online retailer do you think deserves the retailer of the year award?

Now, in addition to designing the Theyskens' Theory label, which is launching for Spring 2011, Theyskens will also be designing Theory, with his first collection for the Fall 2011 season. In his newly-created artistic director role, Theyskens is expected to give Theory a fashion slant while still appealing to the brand's existing customer.

Burton had worked with Lee Alexander McQueen since 1996 and was promoted to her current position at the brand in 2000.  She was saddled with completing McQueen’s final collection — the 16 pieces of which were 80 percent finished at the time of the designer's death. Burton said in a statement of her appointment: “The creation of modern, beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee’s vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy.”

>> Less than a year after Lindsay Lohan and Estrella Archs were brought on to design at Emanuel Ungaro, Giles Deacon has been signed to revamp the brand once again. Deacon plans to continue his own line and will show his first collection for Ungaro — likely in presentation format — during Paris Fashion Week in October, for the Spring 2011 season.

In fact, Deacon said that his first two shows for Ungaro will be off the catwalk, adding: "Nothing is set in stone yet, but I want to be able to get my head into it before considering a catwalk show. Plus, a presentation can be a much more interesting way to show — I can walk people through the designs and discuss the ideas with them. It makes it a much more personal experience."
