Look of the Day: Nice Neutrals
Sometimes, beige tones can look boring, but if done right, they can look effortlessly luxe. Take a cue from Thavasa. She's wearing the popular Spring trend in the form of a flowy chiffon dress, open wrap cardi, and light gray leather jacket. These nice neutrals give way to a pretty light-to-dark color transition. Rugged, black boots keep her 'fit from looking too femme.
Come back and tell us what you have on.
Congrats to Thavasa!

Roundup: Neutral Sofas

I adore this sofa, which is featured in The Invention of Lying. It has great, clean lines and a modern shape, but still looks cozy, and the neutral linen color makes it easy to decorate around. Neutral sofas are a great building block for a number of styles, from classic country to bohemian chic. Just add accents and textiles around the neutral sofa to bring your personality into the space.

This Week's Fab Favorite: Jessica Stroup
I never realized how pretty Jessica Stroup is until now. What a gorgeous girl! Not that she needs the help, but her freshly neutral nude and white Brian Reyes outfit is terribly adorable. The eggshell moiré embroidered skirt paired with a nude low-v top fits to a T and looks very comfortable. The 90210 star wore this to the Origins cosmetics launch of its nationwide cosmetics recycling program in celebration of Earth Month. It's such a great fit for the event: naturally beautiful. Nude Jimmy Choo "Corsica" sandals emphasize the neutral palette, but they're subtly sultry. Jewelry is kept to a minimum — a dainty gold bangle rests around her arm. Fresh faced and ready for Spring!
Celebrity Style: Claudia Schiffer
You know, it's really hard to try to incorporate color into your wardrobe when Supers like Claudia make black, white, and nude look so good. Claudia attended the 2009 Fashion Fringe launch party in London looking like a modern Barbie doll. I also want to give a shout out to her wearing pants — you can do a lot with cool pants, but so many celebs veer toward skirts and dresses. And cropped pants no less. An animal print blouse spices things up while nude suede sandals elongate. Some fun is even delivered via a baubly bracelet. I think I'm in love . . .

Inspired: Project Runway Winner Leanne Marshall's Collection
I'm totally infatuated with Project Runway season five winner Leanne Marshall's final collection. I loved how the palette was so restrained, just neutrals and a gorgeous turquoise; it really let the sculptural shape of the clothes shine. And although the collection did have an architectural quality, the pieces were still full of movement, with pleats that fluttered like a flock of birds bursting into the air.
I thought I'd see if I could capture the essence of the collection with a few home furnishings, and as usual, I was able to come up with some inspired finds. Not only did I discover a range of products in the same palette, but I also came across a handful of pieces with similar sculptural pleats, folds, and curves. To see for yourself, read more
2008 Emmy Awards Trend Alert: Neutral Territory
If you do it right, beige can be bold. Take note from the ladies who attended the Emmys in their elegant neutrals. Look at Olivia Wilde: her romantic silk chiffon Reem Acra gown is far from blah. Neutral colors range far and wide in the color palette so find a hue that complements your skin tone. It makes for a great backdrop against dramatic jewels or embellished details a la Wilde's beaded cap sleeves. Check which leading ladies walked in neutral territory . . .
Look of the Day: Cool Neutrals
It's all about mixing cool neutrals. I like how jsarigan contrasted her teal skirt with a light striped tank and that vintage belt is awesome!
Here's what she's wearing:
- Tank: J. Crew
- Skirt: Old Navy
- Belt: Vintage
- Shoes: Nine West
Congrats to jsarigan!

Trend Alert: The Mute Button
Look in your closet and press the mute button. Beige, dusty pinks, pale yellows, and powder blues are a great way to update your color palette this season. Born from the same family as peach, these feminine hues complement a fresh tan and keep you looking cool all day long. Contrast with a flouncy white skirt like Emanuel Ungaro's Resort look (left) or make it pop with a bit of neon power.
