>> The fate of Escada is still unknown, but it's not so for Ossie Clark. The iconic label known for its flowing printed dresses in the sixties and seventies announced its closure today.

The recently relaunched label was purchased by Marc Worth, founder of online industry resource WGSN, in 2007 and restarted under the direction of little-known designer Avsh Alom Gur at London Fashion Week in February 2008. Gur resigned in March to focus on his eponymous line and was replaced by Nargess Gharani, one half of London label Gharani Strok.

As for the official company line on the closure, a spokesman relayed: "Due to market conditions, developing the business has been challenging and the decision has been made to cease trading."

Trend Alert: Goth Lips at London Fashion Week

At London Fashion Week, I noticed a couple of outlandish beauty trends such as crimped hair and modern cornrow braids.

At London Fashion Week, I noticed a couple of outlandish beauty trends such as crimped hair and modern cornrow braids. But what I remember most vividly from my backstage access was the look of goth lips.

Designers like Julian MacConald, Nathan Jenden, Ossie Clark and Inbar Spector all chose a midnight lip to reflect a chic and distinguishable edge. I'm not a big fan of morbid makeup, but it definitely has shock value on the runway. Would you ever wear blood-colored lipstick?

On Our Radar: Ossie Clark Reborn

Swinging sixties designer Ossie Clark was on every London girl's wish list back in the day: his full sleeves, scoop necks, and romantic prints were all swoonworthy.

Swinging sixties designer Ossie Clark was on every London girl's wish list back in the day: his full sleeves, scoop necks, and romantic prints were all swoonworthy. Unfortunately, his life took a turn for the worse: in 1983, he went bankrupt and was eventually killed by a former lover in 1996. Tragic really.

The label behind the man is being resurrected, and is set to be back at London Fashion Week next February under the guidance of Avsh Alom Gur, who has previously worked at Donna Karan, Roberto Cavalli, and Chloe. Kate Moss, who is a fan of vintage Ossie, is sure to be excited — maybe we'll even catch her front row at the show!

On Our Radar: Topshop Archive

It's tops in the fast fashion realm, and now Topshop is foraying into the vintage arena.

It's tops in the fast fashion realm, and now Topshop is foraying into the vintage arena. Sweet!

Yesterday it launched Archive, an area dedicated to one-of-a-kind vintage finds - think Lanvin, Chloe, and Dior from the sixties and seventies, as well as London labels from the same eras like Lee Bender for Bus Stop, Biba, Mary Quant, Jean Veron, Ossie Clark, and Strawberry Studio. The clothes come from everywhere, vintage fairs to Ebay, and prices run from about $131 for a minidress to $1,000 for an Ossie Clark gown. Just what I need - another place to make the vintage hound in me drool!
