Fab Photo Albums to Preserve Wedding Good Times!

And so, the wedding mist has cleared.

And so, the wedding mist has cleared. Months and months of planning and then the big day - how you wish it would never end - but then it does and you're off to a romantic rendezvous and then...back to reality. I hope you took some pictures along the way! Whether it's pics of the young lovers throughout their love affair, from the actual wedding day, or from the honeymoon, call me old fashioned, but I love a Fab photo album to preserve the good times. I know it takes a bit of money and effort but isn't your love worth it? If you're more techie than I, do check out some other photo preserving options.

Once all is said and done, you two can always pop a bottle of bubbly, fire up a few candles and take a trip down memory lane. Ahhhh.

Out of Sight, Not Out of Mind: Wedding Gown Storage

I've haven't purchased a wedding gown (yet), but I can tell from married friends that preserving that gorgeous and way-too-expensive gown is of top priority once all the celebrating is over.

I've haven't purchased a wedding gown (yet), but I can tell from married friends that preserving that gorgeous and way-too-expensive gown is of top priority once all the celebrating is over. So how does one properly store their favorite wedding dress?

  • First things first, never store your dress in a plastic bag for more than a few days. Just like you, your gown needs to breathe.
  • Do not hang your dress like you would any normal garment. Chances are your dress is heavy so hanging it for a long period of time will not only take up room in your closet, it will weaken the seams.
  • Start by laying your dry-cleaned dress flat and covering the whole thing with white tissue paper. I'd wear gloves during this process so as not to get lotions or oil on the dress.
  • Next, fold and store your dress in a sealed cardboard box. Try to get a very large box to avoid folding the dress too many times.
  • Be sure to store away from direct sunlight to prevent your dress from eventually turning yellow. The best spot is on a high shelf in an interior closet.
  • Don't forget to check up on your dress once a year to make sure it's in good condition.

Fab Finding Follow Up: Flaunt That Post-Honeymoon Tan!

Sadly, the honeymoon is over, but, I asked you to imagine (or maybe for you this is actually true) you've just gotten back from your blissful honeymoon in tropical paradise.

Sadly, the honeymoon is over, but, I asked you to imagine (or maybe for you this is actually true) you've just gotten back from your blissful honeymoon in tropical paradise. You would have a pretty sweet tan, right? I mean, what else would you be doing on your honeymoon besides laying out in the sun? (I'm being facetious sillies!)

As I was saying, you'll be nice and bronzed, and what better to do with your lovely glowing skin than wear complementary colors for the rest of the Summer - I'm thinking golds, olive green, turquoise, and of course: white! I started you off with these Alexis Bittar Edie Earrings, $145, because they'll look spectacular against your sun-kissed complexion.

To see all the bronzed babe fab finds go here.

Let's see what you all came up with!

Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Look #1, found by mellie_608 is definitely Summer perfect for showing off that Fab tan - I am absolutely in love with the dress she picked out: both that jade color and the tapestry-like print are lovely.

Always a Bridesmaid Never a Bride: How To Reuse Those Lonely Dresses

I've done a lot of wedding coverage for brides, but I was thinking how many of us are bridesmaids so many more times than we are brides - and how we all end up with many of those dreaded bridesmaid dresses.

I've done a lot of wedding coverage for brides, but I was thinking how many of us are bridesmaids so many more times than we are brides - and how we all end up with many of those dreaded bridesmaid dresses.

So what to do? I've put together a couple of ideas for ways to recycle all those bridesmaid dresses collecting in your closet, and please - if you have any more ideas, do share!

  • If you're crafty, Blueprint Magazine has five great ways to rework the dress - giving it a little makeover, shall we say. Think painted maxi-skirt, strapless bubble dress, and more!

  • Or if you'd rather have a great home decoration than another piece of clothing, Home & Garden TV has a how-to on turning the dress into a decorative lampshade or photo album cover - for real! Another site has a how-to on transforming the dress into pillow slipcovers.
  • If you're not so crafty, you can always take the dress to the tailor and get the hem altered to cocktail length, or the sleeves taken off so that the dress becomes a sleeveless sheath. There are a million possibilities, especially if your tailor is willing to collaborate and give you advice!
  • But if you just really can't stand the thing, can't even stand to look at it any more, consider donating it to The Princess Project, or a similar organization that collects prom dresses for high school girls in your area. That way the dress will be going to good use!
