Refinery 29 put together a great round-up of the yellow-y gold we've been seeing on the streets--looks like Muiccia Prada, for the first time ever, was beaten to the punch.  Bebe is testing out a concept store, called 2b, for young women who aspire to the bebe lifestyle.

Bebe is testing out a concept store, called 2b, for young women who aspire to the bebe lifestyle. There's something about encouraging young women to dress like striving trophy wives that rubs us the wrong way.

Fashionista makes a case for Caroline Kennedy--who has set her sights on the New York Senate seat soon to be departed by Hillary Clinton--and lets us know that this beauty once shaved off her eyebrow in an act of defiance.

Accessories, the full-priced standby in fashion has, like beauty, done the unthinkable and gone 50% off in response to the recession

We have to give a shout out to our friends at Refinery 29 as they've just pulled together a trend report that has our hearts racing with festive-accessory glee. A veil, as they rightly suggest, might just be the quick-fix for all of your New Years Eve and party-hopping needs. Check out their round up of images from fashion week and beyond, including, of course, veils available for purchase now. Our favorite? This handmade veil comb straight from London...looks like the Luella Spring 2009 collection is appropriating across the pond as fast as can be.

Gift Giver: K Karl Lagerfeld Bauhaus Scarf

Today Refinery 29 posted another chapter of their fabulous On The List series and pegged an item we are undoubtedly adding to our wish list.

Today Refinery 29 posted another chapter of their fabulous On The List series and pegged an item we are undoubtedly adding to our wish list. We're not sure how we missed this Gloria Bauhaus K Karl Lagerfeld scarf but we're happy we found it post-markdown. The only question in our minds is whether to frame it, wear it, bedazzle it, or be a good gift giver and box up the thing.

For more fabulous gift ideas (and likewise tempting self-indulgences) check out Refinery 29's newest gift guide, with 30 items under 100 dollars, as well as our 50 Under 50 gift guide. As pretty as those holiday window displays are--we just can't part with a good e-commerce hunt.

Patchwork Parade: From Alexander Herchcovitch To Acne

We just had to put the Alexandre Herchcovitch Spring 2009 show on our front page today, despite all of the requisite holiday excitement and shopping madness.

We just had to put the Alexandre Herchcovitch Spring 2009 show on our front page today, despite all of the requisite holiday excitement and shopping madness. The Herchcovitch collection was one of our favorites from the Spring 2009 season and presents us with an opportunity to shoutout the blossoming of a trend. Patchwork. It's not our favorite look in the print registry but it is indicative of a greater trend that we're wholeheartedly embracing come spring. Refinery 29 coined it, 'The Summer of 89' and you can find more examples of it in the Opening Ceremony Spring 09 look book.

In The Showroom: Dagmar Spring 2009

We're big time proponents of lady-like dressing because, as much as we like the tough-girl look that's sweeping the fashion scene, deep-down we don't love leaving the house feeling like we're dressed up as a man/vampire.

We're big time proponents of lady-like dressing because, as much as we like the tough-girl look that's sweeping the fashion scene, deep-down we don't love leaving the house feeling like we're dressed up as a man/vampire. After reading about Chloe Sevigny's men's line in girl sizes on Fashionologie, and checking out the Spring 09 Lover collection on Refinery 29, we feel like the more feminine side of our current fashion climate is peaking out from the behind the curtain...there couldn't be a better time to write about Dagmar Spring 2009. Ladylike, fashion forward, casual, and cool this collection has us at hello in the W29 showroom. This Spring 09 season featured knits and nudes fit for a ballerina and some more structured pieces to keep things tidy. We don't need garlands in our hair and slips under our skirts but we don't always want to dress like it's the apocalypse--after all, we have a new president now. Check out the Spring 09 look book, right here, and below, our photos from the showroom.
